Ah yes, I forgot to mention that in the video. If the old lady is not in Mabe village, then she is in Animal Village next to the goat lady's house. (where you got the letter) I think the old lady's position is dependent on where you are in the game, and she is usually in Mabe village when I play through. I'll add an annotation to the video though. Thanks!

It doesn't have to be the shovel, but the shovel is the only item that is not really needed for the rest of the game.

If you go to the screen where you got the necklace from the fisherman and you go down one screen, you can use the hookshot to get to the left side of that screen, then head left and head up a screen. I hope that helps!
