I think they intentionally played it safe structurally and production wise because of Emily. It was her first LP record, so that kind of took the album "theme," that usually allows them to tie an album together and give it a distinct sound. I'm explaining it poorly, but you know what I mean: Hybrid Theory and Meteora were straight nu-metal. Minutes To Midnight had a stadium rock vibe. A Thousand Suns was the experimental concept album. Living Things was nu-metal in contemporary production. The Hunting Party was dipping into metal and prog rock. One More Light was pop/soft rock. These album "themes," and soundscapes worked because we had two albums to learn what Linkin Park's base sound is, so the experimental or genre bending stuff had a sturdy core. With Emily, Colin (and Alex live) there are already so many new things for listeners to acclimate to that being traditionally out there and adventurous could dilute the identity of the band. Mike and the guys probably decided that it was best to go with a traditional "LP," sound for the album to reaffirm that the record is in fact, Linkin Park. I think in LP lore, this album probably has the most interesting story from inception and beyond release. I'm sure we'll be hearing stories from the band, production, WB guys, tour dudes, etc for years.

It's honestly incredible that almsot 25 years later, without the iconic chester, linkin park is still able to make a good album. So happy we got this new experience.
@Braamsery1992Сағат бұрын
To be fair, Hybrid Theory and Meteora is what defined them. Minutes to midnight is a good album, after that it goes bad, fast. So, they more or less start making good music again, not still making good music. (Hunting party was 50/50 good/bad)
@CL8771Сағат бұрын
@Braamsery1992 at the time of release I hated a thousand suns, but today it's probbaly my favourite. Living things and hunting party have their moments. If they were truly bad they would have stopped a while ago. there willingness and ability to change and try different things is a part of what makes them great.
@MartinJurus48 минут бұрын
@@Braamsery1992 That's your opinion. Everything they've made is well made, only Hunting Party and One More Light feel derivative, but they're still well made.
@Braamsery199222 минут бұрын
@@MartinJurus Definitely, its my opinion. I just think, that most that grew up with the first things, were more dissappointed with the later things. Its always the own opinion, but this goes more in the early/mid 2000s, which, for the most likely majority of fans, was the best time.
@MartinJurus14 минут бұрын
@@Braamsery1992 It's always like that. We grow up with a soundtrack to our childhood / adolescence and as we're getting older, there is this underlying want for things to stay the same, because that feels safe. But nothing ever stays the same and the sooner we accept that, the sooner we can start confidently moving on - same goes for musicians. LP understood that pretty early on after Meteora and it was inevitable. It hurts, but it moves you along the path. Look at bands like Limp Bizkit for example. They haven't changed and where are they right now?

I can honestly say now that I'm pretty happy with the new stuff. Also my 6-year-old absolutely loves the new Linkin Park, almost as much as she loves Ash to Ashes, so her and I bond over the new stuff. I was so excited for this drop. I was never one of the hard-core Linkin Park fans, but they were always on my periphery throughout middle and high school. For some reason, the revival just, hit me at a moment I needed it. I feel like I'm in the minority in that I truly think The Emptiness Machine is one of the best songs I heard this year. I LOVE that song, desperately. My favorite moments are when we get Mike and Emily solidly sharing a song (as in, Emily is in more than just the chorus), and The Emptiness Machine really hits that for me. I also am in the minority in that I love Over Each Other. tbh, I love Emily. I didn't know her before she got with Linkin Park, and I just think she fits. And her vocals are fire, to me. I love her voice deeply. I would agree that Two-Faced is one of, if not the best, track on the album. But right now, my favorite is still The Emptiness Machine.

I guess I'm an oddity. I've never been more than a casual fan of Linkin Park and have never really gone back and deep-dived beyond their most well known tracks (due in part to just how many have tried to copy their sound over the years I think)...but what I have become in the last few years is a HUGE fan of female lead vocalists and while I wasn't super-aware of Emily before Emptiness Machine, I did immediately get excited for this album and every single has been top notch for me. Can't wait to head to my local record store this weekend and pick this up on vinyl.

Couple quick tips about the hair dye: 1. A little Vaseline on the skin around your hairline can help prevent it from lingering on the skin. 2. After rinsing out the dye, if there is still residue on the skin, take an emollient makeup remover balm and apply it to the stain, let it sit for a few minutes then wipe off, it will dissolve and take off a lot of the stain. Repeat if needed. Enjoy and take care!

I enjoyed the tracks where it seemed they were trying something new rather than nodding to the past. Stained and Overflow are the stand outs for me right now.

Overflow feels very Twenty One Pilots - Trench vibes and I love it so much!
