It’s because of how many bands got influenced by them, seriously listen to modern metal/rock/alt and you will hear all kinds of Linkin park influence, hell even in some rap genres you hear it

@Love Music my point flew over both your heads. The fact its relevant today has nothing to do with newer bands and any LP influences they may have. Just comes down to a band that wrote a song 20 years ago

@@Rybob1987 You're missing the point. Their music would not (could not) sound "relevant" or "timeless" if they hadn't left any influence on the modern musical landscape. If they had been a flash in the pan, that is exactly what they would sound like to new listeners.

*Alex. Don't act like that man....shaking your head and staff...Your comedy is just ridiculous. 3 years ago or so, you didn't even know there was a band called Linkin Park, Evanescence, and others. You discover this culture around 2018! That doesn't even give you the right to be an amateur. You're an upstart. You're a novist, a newborn. You were absent, lost in a space-time hole...You just dropped in. You just woke up or came out of a long coma, or a cave..., you don't "know" Chester for example come on brainless...but you allow yourself to judge with your newcomer's approximations, and to play the connoisseur. But to know it, you must have fallen into it too early. You have to have been immersed in it for years, to know its history, to develop the right musical ear (yes, it's an ear, not neck muscles to nod for business! )...It's a whole process where there's no room for improvisation or false pretenses...You judge, for example, teenagers who discover Linkin Park or Slipknot, etc., while you yourself discovered these bands when you were twice the age of these teenagers! It's not even the same as them, it's worse, because at least these kids have the excuse of being born too late! What is your excuse?*

They never sugar coated their lyrics. It was always raw emotion. They never romanticized or glamorized things, like some bands did back then. It just made you feel not alone; that someone else was out there feeling the same way that you are. For a kid who struggled with depression, sometimes still do, their songs spoke to me and comforted me. All their songs hit differently with Chester passing way but it makes them even more impactful. To know the demons and battles Chester fought, you realize these songs were written from experience by someone experiencing the same things you might be at any given moment. You realize that you are not alone, which is just huge. Depression isn't extreme sadness; it is isolation and removal from reality. It makes you believe that no one will understand what you are going through and that it makes you question everything. At least, it did in my experience. Linkin Park helped eliminate that isolation. They helped helped me feel not alone, and continue to do so.

This song and Lost have brought out one reaction repeated over and over. In hindsight, we should have seen it coming. These were his cries for help, but all their songs packed so much emotion and pain that they all were cries for help. But he was always smiling in interviews and joking around. One thing I have learned from all the celebrity suicides is check on your smiling friends. Check on the ones who seem happy because sometimes that is the only way to numb the pain. Chester got so many people through dark times, myself included, and that is why he is still so sorely missed. RIP Chester.

I feel like it's popular to say this kind of stuff (don't get me wrong, it's good, check on your friends), but it's not going to fix the issue. Chester wasn't in a bad mood. Checking on him wasn't going to break him out of it. People who live with mental illness tend to be stuck with it for life. As Ren so eloquently put it in Hi Ren, it's not David v Goliath, it's a pendulum. The best case scenario for your friend might be that they manage to survive the negative cycles for most of their life, only to have one be too much for them. I could never expect my friends to be a support system long term like that. I learned a long time ago that my depression will erode my friendships with even my most well intentioned friends. It can be detrimental to you to even try to be a support for that cyclical illness.

It's because we all have been in or know someone who lives in the darkness that LP talks about. We understand that one needs a support system to overcome that darkness. We have to be that for each other, but also recognize when someone needs more help than we can give. It's a kind of, family; even though we've never met.

I relate to this song so much. Because recently I have felt like I have been fighting everyone who I feel is "against me" but in reality it's myself that I'm fighting because I never let things go and dwell on them because little things remind me of those big things if that makes sense. But this song helps with my fight against myself.

I love they did not release it back then. The healing it gives now, Is far more than it would have given at the time. Getting Chesters vocals again, in something new. When we all thought we would never have that again. That is healing. Its emotions. That is why it just hit when I heard Lost. I listen to their music, Ive heard it before. But hearing lost for the first time, thinking I would never hear a Linkin Park song again ( without thinking about it that way ) It just hit home. Its a gift. LP still have our backs. With that, Mike really deserves some respect. When Chester lost the fight to his illness, Mike not only had to deal with his loss. He stepped up, and helped Chesters family. And he understood, there where 1000's of LP "family" members who would be hit hard by this. And he made sure to step up. He tried to be a voice for all those people. Giving memorial concerts. Talking to people. listening. He understood the power LP and Chester had to people. How many lives they had a impact on. And he knew that it was now up to him to catch people. While still having to deal with his own personal loss, And helping Chesters family through it. Mike really showed how amazing a human he is. He did not go into hiding, he did not stop speaking about Chester. He tried to reach out and be there for those who have followed and loved the band for many years. And releasing these songs now. Is in line with that. Sharing this now means a lot more, than they would ever have done being released among other songs at the time.

Back in Primary School (Age 4-11 school internationally.) We were allowed to bring in CDs to play in the lunch room during break. I brought in my first ever single I bought; Linkin Park - Numb. I was told off for it being too 'inappropriate' for school, but regardless I jammed out on my own later in detention to it with my old school USB MP3 player. The band has always stuck with me ever since. Linkin Park had this supernatural power to bring those who were felt isolated or hurt and empower you at a generational level. It's bitter irony for a band that was able to so uniquely empower literally millions of people that one of their own needed empowering. Chester gave to everyone he could until he had nothing left. He is a textbook definition of a hero. He was and always will be a hero.

They explain how we can all feel but have no idea how to express. It’s a comfort that someone out there knows what mental health issues are about. They as a band helped millions and we love them for it. Chester couldn’t keep his demons from getting him. But we love that he left us a map to try. LP bringing these out now is needed more now since things are so bad. Thank you for treasures not expected but deeply appreciated.

I've listened to their newest songs, as well as older songs, quite often lately. Not only are they very iconic, but for many, including myself, they are our heroes, saviors, our childhood and our future. Linkin Park saved so many people who were not in a positive state of mind. To me, they will always be with me. Hearing Chesters voice, makes me tear up, but also makes me proud of what he has done. RIP Chester, you'll never be forgotten.

Linkin park will always be my favorite band❤they broke the mold on that mixture of genres after they perfected it.There has never been another artist or band that has been able to do it as well as them since. 23 years as a fan and their music never gets old.

Damn!!! Chester is missed... His death was a big loss... I listen to this song now and I remember how much I love this band, and how much hearing Chester's voice now hurts... It's a crazy mix of feelings hearing LP's music and Chester's voice in 2023... Rest in peace bro...

I agree with your relatability point of view cause when I discovered the 'Lost' song that Linkin park just released, i was having a bad day and I screamed this song from the top of my lungs and all that negativity went away or at least I got relieve 😊

I miss his voice. Chesters scream, and just passion in his music shined like very few before him. They have a way with their words to hit a spot inside of you that no one really seems to know HOW to. For what their music is, the passion and energy...I don't know how else to explain it...shines. The Emotion in Chesters voice is felt like none other

I do very much miss hearing the new music of LP. I love the Meteora album & I'm so happy that they had this music saved for us all now. LP is very much missed & I mean that about every member of LP. Life just doesn't feel the same without them actively in it.

Fighting myself and lost made me emotional. Chester was truely an angel because of his voice and his personality he saves milions of lives before and after his death and his story and music saves me from hard depression. I'm a big linkin park fan listen to all their songs and knows alot of information about them. Linkin park is truely one of a kind band. And hope one day i will be able to repay them by saying thank you for making such a wonderful music. Chester we love you and misses you thank for everything you done.❤❤❤❤❤ bfw lost and fighting myself are awesome as hell.

It's the stacked vocals at the end for me. I'll be honest I really only got into LP relatively late in the game, since my family didn't really play this type of music around the house. There's something about them that stands out. The production value on many of their songs is just *chef's kiss*. I like songs that you can listen to over and over and just pick up new production elements on each listen.

100% i still listen to linkin park and return regularly not for the music but for the relatability. i searched for years for a good way to describe the way my mind worked back then (and still now to this day) and i remember seeing that podcast interview (the clip you showed actually) and hearing Chester say that really resonated with me. ive struggled with depression all my life and i always had to have an outlet, i always had to be doing something like gaming/card games/music, to keep myself out of my own head. because everytime i didnt have an outlet of sorts my mind is nothing short of an abyss.

So now i watched your video one more time! But as written earlier, i relate to everything you say in this! What i also like about your videos! Yesterday i wrote to a friend 'Im so great full to experience LP music's because they make so brilliant songs, both music and lyrics that can express my feelings and emotions and make a feeling and put out words to express my feelings that I can't do myself, and I kinda envy them for being able to do that!!!'❤

Some of the craziest things about the Meteora20 songs is that they had these songs on a hard drive for 20 years, and they are still better than a lot of music that comes out today and they still fit in 2023

I subscribed coz of your recent linkin park videos. Got me right in the feels. im sure its hit me as much as its hit you. Listening to these Meteroa era songs teleports me back to 2003, then Chesters voice hitting me knowing that we will never hear his voice again but here he is again from the past, giving us a warm hug, holding us up through tough times, filling us with happiness, sadness, memories, nostalgia all at the same time.

I can 100% relate to Chester in this scenario. I also hate being by myself in my own head for too long. I start thinking about things i did years ago and end up swimming in a pool of my own regrets with no ladder to climb out which depresses the fuck out of myself so id rather just not do that.
