Yes, check out the live version of this. Show opener at the 1 hour livestream concert, the rest of the set was older songs, some of which have been posted on LP's channel. Yep, a new era, they didn't bring Emily in to be Chester, they brought Emily in to be Emily. They just added a singer and are moving forward. She came from Dead Sara, her band since 2002. I like her voice, I think she fits in. New drummer too, Colin Brittain. Rob had decided to step away. Brad is still in the band, but isn't playing live. Alex Feder is filling in on stage. New album drops Nov 15, will be called "From Zero" , a double entendre with this being a new start and the original band name being Xero.

The show has a relatively bad sound mix. I'd look for TJ's upload of the LA concert. Runtime is two hours or so and it's amazing.

I didn't expect a full-on replacement for Chester, but Emily still manages to capture the same level of angst & grittiness. The rest of it sounds like a Linkin Park song to me. It's a new era, not a new band. Definitely check out the live version, which is still very good. And, yes, that is the bar from New Girl.

Chester, RIP. LP brought in a kick ass singer. I love this "new era" thus far. The comparisons are not fair, period. The worst thing LP could've done was go out and find someone who sounds like Chester... the blowback would've never ended. Instead, they update their sound. New singer, new drummer, new era, new fan!

It's a new chapter. I'm not a diehard Linkin Park fan, but i enjoy their music. That said, I've been around long enough to have seen many artists pass away. I was a few months old "The day the music died". Back in 1959, a plane crash killed Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens. Throughout the sixties and early seventies, a number of musicians passed. Hendrix, Morrison, Moon, Joplin, Lynyrd Skynyrd lost part of the band in a plane crash. Zeppelin quit when john Bonham died. AC/DC has been going strong since Bon Scott passed, 40+ years. Queen spent more than 10 years deciding what to do when they went out with Paul Rodgers in the early two thousands before getting together with Adam Lambert. It happens. The band wants to go on. In many of those instances it's "I still want to make music, you can't replace what we had but can honor it". Emily is not Chester, nor is she trying to be. I've watched the music video and a couple of live performances a number of times and get chills when she starts to sing. Do the live version. They also did older LP songs during the livestream too.

I think it was a brilliant move by LP to bring in a female vocalist, so there wouldn't be soo much comparison to Chester (RIP 😪). And I really like her as a singer, as a performer, and I think she also did very well on the old stuff live... But I don't think this sounds like a Mike Shinoda side project. I think the essence of LP is still there. This sounds probably a bit cheesy, but I think this is matured Linkin Park, they just overcame the teenage angst and agression of the early days... And I can completely understand your feelings in the beginning, reminds me strongly on how I felt in the late summer of 1980 before hearing AC/DC's 'Back in Black' for the first time... Gosh, now I feel old... 😉

I like this song and I like her vocals and performance. I really like Linkin Park and Chester was a big part of the reason why. But I want to see LP continue as a band and I think this iteration has a chance to do that. Also sorry to see that Rob is out completely and Brad will no longer tour, but I do hope that LP can return. I know it won’t be the same, but it could still be good music. Yes, please review the live version and also some of their live concert. Thx!

If you get a chance, check out either the most recent New York concert or Los Angeles concert! Probably ones with the higher view counts. There are several videos, but only a few with great sound quality. Emily sounds amazing! The first livestream performance video they put out sounds great, but I think she was really feeling the pressure and was pushing a little hard, in my opinion. But she has settled in and just keeps getting better and better! 👍

if you want a better idea of how she can sing, look for "Heavy is the Crown" - another new song. It's live from Hamburg, Germany - the show is 2 hours, including this song, and HitC, she nails a lot of the older songs live.

Respect your opinion. Disagree with it not feeling like LP. Felt like them to begin with to me and then when the guitars and drums kicked in, it definitely felt like LP. Glad you are willing to give them a chance. I like Emily. Think shes a great fit. I would highly recommend watching the 1 hour interview the whole band gave. As far as the live stuff goes, Emily was very nervous and emotional during the initial live stream and you can hear it in her vocals. She settles down half way through and nails the end. She is a lot more comfortable in the LA and NY streams I've watched. So might be better to pick a good fan version of the LA or NY concert. I would suggest watching the live version of this song before you dive into her singing the older songs. I think she does a fantastic job, but might take you awhile to get used to it.

Fully correct. But to this day, there are those who pour out hate for Anette or even Floor ... In the case of Emily, I personally believe a lot of the hate just results from her being a female. That alone should make it clear that the band is not replacing Chester but opening a new chapter. And the album is called "From Zero".

@@jo_g.germany Yes, and in the way Emily was introduced similarly as Floor did. Altho she never get that much crap on social media as Emily do for no reason. In Floor's place that was more like heartwarming welcome with just a few haters. There were more for Anette tho. But still not even close to what Emily got from their "fans". Which means wery differentaudience. One is cool one and second need to get their arse kicked. Floor had three advantages - she was replacing someone that was not fan favourite in the first place and it was welcome change for many that was still Tarja fans and wanted someone more similar. She was changed ina day basicly so fans didn't had the chance to make their mind who should or shouldn't be. Third she was more known by some of NW fans already. And Three disadvantages: No time to prepare, going in her own bad condition and to band that was in bad condition. Both was introduced by live show, so that is similar, both shows were smaller, but Emily had disadvantage to be filmed and streemed, so evwry mistake was publically known in that momet, whilee Floor was OK in ths matter. Other Emily's disadvantages were: nobody knew she was comming, (Floor fans get at least memo few hours before the show), She was replacing male vocal, not female and there was nobody between her and Chester that would be previously criticised, so some lesser fans would be already out and others used to change and maybe even hoping for it. Her advantages was much more time to prepare and band in good shape already. One more similarity: both are going to bands that makes differend sound then their previous bands, both are doing old songs in their own style, do not copy anyone, and both have hudge potencial, which can be fulfilled in time. Floor already fullfilled it and wend far beyond. Emily is just begining her new chapter in much later age, so she will have it more difficult. But there is potencial for greatness also and after jus 2 regular concerts she already made so much progress. So I feel good about her right now.

The new album name is from zero, and thats how i think you should look at rhis for sure, even the song here is very oldsvhool linkin park sounding, and Mike still sound like Mike, with Emily and the new drummer it is still a new era i think.. and if you can look at this song, and forget about Chester a moment, is is a good song right, aint that what its about..

Definitely do the livestream show. It’s not so much a new band as it is a new era for a kick ass band. Emily is not Chester (nobody can be) but she’s the perfect fit for the new era and well, I feel that how she performs the old songs honors Chester well.

For live performances, I recommend either the full concert at LA or NY. The live stream is not the best mix and she was really nervous and full of emotion.
