In 2008 I was going through a very bad time in my life. I was going through a very painful divorce while being deployed to SW Asia and trying keep my head straight while 8000 miles from home. I listened to this song every single day over and over and if it weren't for Linkin Parks music I dont think I honestly could have gotten through it all. I ended up having a nervous breakdown upon my return home unfortunately but this song still means so much to me. I'm so saddened by Chester's passing and wish he had a song like this that could have gotten him through his rough times.

As a New Orleanian who came through Katrina, this is just the best song about that experience for me. The lyrics are right on the money, sort of haunting like the melody, and then it just builds and builds and blows you away with a monster wall-of-sound. I was aware of this group before for sure, but didn't know they would produce something as beautiful as this. Seeing the most powerful nation on Earth unconcerned / unable to get water to the stranded people for days in the heat - - such a disgrace, with the whole world watching.

That's how I felt about Hurricane Sally in Pensacola. Trump was the president at the time, and we got no help. It wasn't declared a national disaster. No assitance from Fema or anything. My home was destroyed. After that traumatizing ordeal, I finally got to a place with power after 2 weeks and turned on the tv to see what the news was covering. It felt like nobody gave a shit. People all over the country were watching football and living their lives while we struggled.

🤔 I never put this song, and natural disasters, together until now...WOW! 😮 Thanks for opening my eyes with your comments/stories! ❤ I'm sorry to each of you, for what you've endured! Sadly, I also have experience with this too! And trying and failing to get help! It's something no one in this country (or any country) should ever have to feel, as though their lives are not "worth" the gvmts help! 🙄 Sadly, the truth is, THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT US! 😢 That's just the reality! They see only statistics on paper, not the HUMAN BEINGS!! 💙 Sending love to you all!

Every Song on this album is highly under rated... These men grew older, wiser, even gentler, because HEY, Chester became a father, I'm sure Mike had a relative pass away but instead of anger he felt appreciation that the relative is no longer hurting, Han probably has taken shit from racist fucks for years and maybe in some way maybe he found peace enough to forgive them, who knows man, but everyone shits on Linkin Park for going soft, and I'm like, okay, I found peace in their chaos, and in their chaos I found peace in them, and in them, I followed, really listening to the messages and the melodies... These men started out as the punks fed up with the bullshit, and then they aged and lived life and had experiences and GREW. These men got me through a really tough time in the 5th grade, when my gramma adopted me and became my mom... For some reason, I ended up finding these guys in the fifth grade, and this was the shit that got me through. I even started singing because of Chester, and as I was reaching a more chaotic time of my life in highschool, Minutes to Midnight came out and everyone shit on them, and they also noticed something in me changed as well. not to sound like someone who emulates music, but there has always been something about Linkin Park that I couldn't shake, so I defended this album, and still do, because there should be shame towards people who bash on others for finally finding peace in life... My grandmother passed away July 20th 2017... Yeah... So imagine how fucking shook I was, knowing that two people I look up to can no longer share something new they just learned today or will learn in the future... Knowing that two people who know just what to say can't come up with the right thing to say... At her funeral I played "Leave Out All the Rest", because in that moment, I was the one in the dream, so scared, no one listening cause no one else cared. For people who never knew Chester, or even of a band called Linkin Park or Dead by Sunrise, the day was just another Thursday in July. And since my family was the only people who knew my gramma... you can imagine that anger... that someone who is just as wonderful as Chester has also passed and nobody fucking knows or cares!!! I am honored to say that I have been a fan, from the beginning, till the end. I got their first album the day it came out, all of their mainstream albums, and all of their underground albums, and I never lost faith just over a chance in sound... These men are a true gift to the world and I feel so lucky to have been born at such a time that I could experience a full legacy from beginning to end...
@alphaomega75385 жыл бұрын
I actully read this and sorry about your grandma passing away and i guess you truly looked up to her. It was a nice message to those who dont care ( cause i dont care where the eniemies are ). I hope you found somewhere you belong. I hope others WAKE up and appeaciated this band and in his remains ( chesters ) they realise their lies, greed and misery. Even though they will sometimes feel powerless they always shine like tinfoil. And through the shadows of the day they will have no more sorrow for they bled out for all of up without giving up. And in between they were left in peices with chesters death and felt victimized and numb from it. So everyone sould leave their hands held high for them.

I cant believe its almost a year since Chester's death, i feel so sad and empty because of the fact that millions of fans didn't had the opportunity to hear Chester in a concert, i did in 2015, it was fucking amazing, im also sad because of the fact that in that night, the night of the concert, i didn't know, but it was going to be the last time i would hear Chester's angelical voice in concert. Just shy of Soundgarden's "Like Suicide" as my favorite closing song to any album. It's lengthy, sure, but like Soundgarden's song it spends that time building up to a serene, almost "cosmic" sounding guitar solo, followed by Chester's beautifully tender vocals. And it all ends, also like Soundgarden, with all the instrumentals quieting down, leaving the vocals to ring out sternly, yet gracefully, only taking a sigh of relief at the very tail end of the song. It all adds up to the perfect send-off to Linkin Park's most tonally diverse and daring album of their discography.
