I've learnt a lot from watching your videos. You proved my textiles teacher wrong about tacking/basting the thread can be knotted. I recently used a different sewing needle with bigger eye for fabric wrapping around the paper piece this really helped with the threading. I normally use the same needle for both tacking and sewing Clover No.9 applique. I went back to my sewing box and picked needle similar size but with bigger eye. Lately, I have been finding hand sewing not enjoying because been feeling depressed and stress. I've learnt slowing down helps. Your videos give me inspiration for patchwork projects. I haven't found a place which sells the stuff fabric mesh or self adhesive wadding. Interfacing and normal iron on are closest. Most of time it's better to use what is in your stash.

An australian hand-patchworker Meredithe Clarke, made a video for a patchwork magazine years ago, about sewing just the fabric in the corners, without sewing through the cards, which makes it much easier to remove your patchwork papers. It also saves a lot of time, as you don't need to take out your tacking stitches, they can stay in to keep the shapes neat. The longer sides can be held in too. If the stitches in the corners are put further in toward the middle, and the edges are done with one stitch closer to the edge, the subtle angle, pulls the fabric around the card snugly. American you-tubers use a hole punch to make a small hole in the centre of the papers, at the start, before they are covered, so you can hook the papers out easily once the shapes are all sewn together. My grandma taught me this, but we used mostly diamonds and supplemented with triangles so there was a little less to sew :) very nice!
