The thing I like most at the stores you shop at, is a lot of the produce is wrapped nicely in plastic lol. When I go to the Japenese grocery where I live in the States, I just run in and get my sushi and what I need without going aisle by aisle checking out all the neat stuff. Now I will !!

Yeah… neatly in plastic, mostly 💦💦💦 I hope you have new find in the Japanese store you shop 🎶🎶🎶

Man, I am seriously thinking of moving to Japan because meat prices are WAY cheaper than meat prices here in America. Here in Washington state, we are paying nearly $20 for a thing of ground beef.

My mom came from Kumamoto to marry my JCanadian dad. She wrote often to her siblings but had not travelled back for at least 15 years. It was my dad’s one and only trip to Japan and money was tight but she took over lots of instant coffee and maple syrup, Kit Kats and coffee crisp candy bars. Her next trip was maybe 5 years later and she took my sister. She had started her own Japanese catering business so money was much better. She went grocery shopping with my aunt and pretty much bought everything she touched. My aunt tried to stop her but she was determined. Unfortunately, her health had started to deteriorate so by the end of the trip, she was exhausted and ill from eating too much uni. But she was so happy to see her family and spoil them with food and goods. They were very poor when she was young. It was her last trip home but many cousins came to visit us. I wish KZbin was around when she was younger, she would have loved your shopping trips. Because of her, all three of us daughters cook Japanese food very well.❤️

Thank you for sharing your mother’s story ! I guess it was hard for her for noting being able to visit family for such a long time! 🥹 I was a poor student myself! I didn’t have enough money to buy food either! But I am glad she raised you well and you can cook Japanese food too! 💛 She will be happy I guess🥹

Hi! I just arrived Okinawa in 28th June. Yesterday evening I went in a grocery shop with my husband in Okinawa. Every vegetables are way expensive than I expected. 😅 I think everything is pretty expensive here in Okinawa than your area. 🙁

Hi! Glad you have arrived safe and sound!!! Oh! Really? Perhaps you can try to look for other places for groceries? I live in Kanagawa prefecture, and not familiar with the prices at Okinawa. But I am sure the locals have some shops they go often?
@tisha3762 жыл бұрын
Thank you😊 I went in a different shop. That was a bit cheaper than the other one I went. You can visit us if you come in Okinawa. 😊 I live in OIST campus. My husband is a professor of the University.

I am glad you found another store! Explore more! I am sure you will find a store you like! You know what? My husband is planning his Okinawa trip for the boy’s school holiday😂 thank you so much for your offer but I don’t in charge of the schedule! The boys will play all day long at the beach or pool I guess 😆 Culture at Okinawa is a little different than what we have here in the main land. But feel free to ask anything! I am happy to share my knowledge if I can 🥰💛 hope you and family settle down soon and enjoy your time in Okinawa!
