Hi Jan, I just saw this. Thank you for creating it, as well as for your favorable comments. This will be helpful to others, which I appreciate. And thank you for owning a LinnStrument. - Roger Linn

@@amslu Roger Linn is a cool dude! he's very active in forums and supports his products 100% I bought a linnstrument second hand and he still sent me an activation code for bitwig 8-track and transferred the remainder of the warranty into my name.

So refreshing to see the level of thoughtful engineering put into this product by Roger and his team. It really shows and translates to what really feels like a new kind of digital instrument.

I’d highly recommend the SWAM instruments by audio modeling. They’re rather pricey on PC, but can also be run from iPad and work flawlessly with GarageBand. They’re about a third the price on iPad. Bonus is they have a preset config for the Linnstrument! If you want to go even cheaper, there’s an app called GeoShred which basically turns your iPad into a Linnstrument minus the pressure sensitivity and tactile grid lines (and with fewer notes) the app is $25, and they partnered with Audio Modeling to use their SWAM engine. The full bundle is $75, so $100 total. GeoShred also has multiple presets for the Linnstrument. My Linnstrument should arrive in a day or two and I can’t wait! I’m in a similar boat, as I’m a violinist who, after dedicating 20 years to learning that instrument, would rather try to find a midi controller or instrument that suits my skills rather than spending the time to learn piano beyond what I’m currently capable of.

The SWAM instruments are definitely on my wishlist. I didn‘t know they were available for iPad. Thanks for the info!

Jan; thank you for sharing your insight and thorough description of Linnstrument. Well done. I am new to this concept of instrument. Im a lifetime drummer and have brought melodic drums into my life like the handpan. Learning piano and guitar has proven to be beyond my patience to a level that I would consider “ capable” . The linnstrument seems to be a concept that makes learning a new instrument a possibility. Thank you for your clarity and inspiration.

I hope it will inspire you to learn a new instrument. Just never forget to have fun in the process! :D

Very expressive! Looking into one for myself, the most novice of all novice piano players and never picked up a guitar in my life but idk I just like to feel my way intuitively when it comes to melodies, maybe this will help?

Sehr sehr schön was du da so ab 15.08 gespielt hast.

Can you color code notes? Alas seems the 128 note model sold out at moment. Been playing Organ since 1973 but the COMPACT size of the Linnstrument is VERY alluring.
@loaferproject2 жыл бұрын
I think the default firmware doesn't support it. But if you are able to write code or have someone that can help you with that, the firmware is openly available on GitHub. github.com/rogerlinndesign/linnstrument-firmware

one question, how you connect linnstrument with your eurorack? you play is really amazing, I am eager to know the connection, could you share your method if convenient?
@loaferproject Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind words @xuzhangning ! I connect the linnstrument to my eurorack by using the Expert Sleepers - FH-2 'factotum'. This module is perfect for connecting any midi USB device to eurorack and it gives you an amazing amount of options to configure your outputs. I would strongly recommend to check it out and to read the manual to get familiar with all the functionality. I hope this helps.

Such a great video! I love how you shared your story. I just put my name on the list to get a 128 (backorder)! Very inspiring, thank you. Subscribed 🙌🙂 I'm very curious to see how well it will work with my Oberheim Xpander... since it has a 6 channels multi timbral mode, it should work well (albeit not officially "MPE" of course). I wish my Prophet XL was MPE compatible... See you around!

what's your approach to converting midi to cv?
@loaferproject3 жыл бұрын
I've chosen the Expert Sleepers FH-2 'factotum'. It's working very well and I can configure it to map any midi device in any way I want. I can wholeheartedly recommend it.

Grid base instruments will never be comfortable for human hand. Grid geometry just is not suitable for the topology of human hand.

Wow, such a broad sweeping statement. I guess you don't own one? And what exactly makes any other instrument "comfortable for human hand"? Or do you have a vested interest in selling other types of instrument? Would love to hear from you and benefit from your deep expertise. Rather than just baseless, generic, evidence free statements. x
@MonadTransformer Жыл бұрын
@PASHKULI barre chords or alternate picking are not exactly comfortable on a guitar either. At least when you're starting out. Stretching for more than an octave is uncomfortable on the regular keyboard. The fingerings when playing scales are pretty unnatural etc. This instrument certainly has its drawbacks and andvantages...
@PASHKULI Жыл бұрын
@@MonadTransformer Yes, but the topology of human hand should come first. Barre chords are fine and are more comfortable than "piano-like" inversions on guitar in most cases. Also guitar is a grid instrument but can use plenty of tunings and the grip of the hands is completely different. Keyboard instruments at the moment are pretty limited and quite frankly UNCOMFORTABLE.
