Always was an Android guy. But after using an iPhone for 3 years, I must say that it does have very nifty features. One of them is standardization, measuring speaker loudness just works because the app can be calibrated to different iPhone models. Or when using your phone as a viewfinder for camera shots, all iPhones of the same type share the same camera specs, so the app can easily be customized for it. Some apps I use are only available on iPhone, not on Android. The screens are good and have excellent color representation. Useful when you are designing. The cameras are good enough to capture memories for me, I'll use an actual camera anyways when quality is important. My work laptop is a Macbook, makes sharing files with Airdrop really easy. But... I do miss the battery life of my Android phone because I bought my iPhone second hand. I miss the convenience of USB-C, even though that has been added to more recent models. Sideloading is a bit more of a hassle, although SideStore makes it pretty easy once setup. No more handy IR blaster for when you want to control a TV, AV Receiver, Projector, or other device from your phone. Lost all my progress of the games I used to play on the Play Store. Even though I've completely quit mobile gaming now, became too addictive for me. I don't think I'll swap over to Android again, unless Apple does something really stupid. But both platforms have their strengths and weaknesses.

One important thing to consider is the manufacturer's custom android that can completely ruin the experience. I was a huge iphone fan sice the first ( yes my friends were able to send MMS and i wasnt ) , untill the iPhone 5. Then I discovered Sony's Z3 , and became so impressed that I later had multiple Sony Z flagship. ( except the fact that raw camera wasn't accessible, and they're overpriced now ) I then had to switch to a cheap phone and went for Xiaomi MI9. There were a LOT OF BUGS, or quirks... the custom android experience was horrible. For example, not using gyroscope for screen orientation detection means that when you pick up your phone, you can have like 3 screen rotation actions instead of 1. I then had another (MI9T PRO) and then went for a POCO x6 pro 5g , the current one I own. ( 5G doesn't work, and it isnt carrier related ). I had a samsung s23 inbetween but it wasn't that smooth of an experience. Better than chinese ones but still.

1. Split screen, fair, useful 2. Launchers useally destory all coherency in design and sometimes animations when returing to a third party launcher are buggy 3. Bro doesn't know that the one useful feature of camera control on iphone is literally using it as a quick launch for the camera, failling that the 15 can have it's action button configured 5. @ThaluckyaceSome people prefer writing to typing, it's great for them. If Samsung made Spen-enabled devices at more affordable price points I'd get one for my grandma, she always struggles with typing and would prefer handwritten notes. I like the idea, but I think the execution fell a bit flat, both in phone choices and in the pitch for each one (although maybe that last one was due to the editing). For example, if you're going to offer only one book-style foldable to represent the category, why would you choose the one that has the least features? I think a OnePlus Open, Z Fold6 or Magic V3 (if including imported ones) would be better options. And something I noticed in foldable videos over on ShortCircuit is that the only one who actually gets into it is Linus. Nothing against the rest of the hosts (Elijah, Riley, Jake Bell) but they treat them as just wider phones. Still, I'll be waiting for part 2.

They just need to implement something like tap nfc to initiate transfers faster imo.

My partner has always been an iPhone user, but I forced her onto Android by buying her an S23 Ultra. She works in the beauty industry and runs her own small company. Several times a month, she holds conferences and courses where the Link to Windows feature comes in handy. They often do live demos, and instead of having every participant huddle up to see, she simply streams everything from her Android-phone to the projector via her laptop. She still keeps an iPhone for AirDrop since most people in the beauty industry use one. What I’m trying to say is that it all comes down to your personal use case and need for specific features.

I switched two years ago from the iPhone 8 to a Samsung A32 5G. In my opinion, it was so bad that I switched to a better Samsung (Samsung S21 Plus 5G) after five months. However, this device stopped receiving updates for some reason. So I switched back to the iPhone 8 and later bought an iPhone 13 Pro Max. Since then, I haven't had any more problems. Also, I did not like the system. All of this led me to the conclusion that I prefer iPhones and that I could no longer use an Android device.

I started out with Samsung phones , in fact before I was just mainly buying Samsung phones and windows laptops, when I bought the s8+ at first it was great but then it became so buggy and the battery was not existent, so I decided to look for a new phone ,I was thinking of getting a s21 plus which was just released but because Samsung decided to not put snapdragon chip but a chip with much worst performance for people outside the US , I decided not to buy it ,I was recommended by my friend to buy an iPhone which I did ,I bought an iPhone 11 Pro Max and I loved it ,battery life was amazing and there was no bugs at all ,I then bought a MacBook and AirPods .I started to learn about swift and ios development after I got a MacBook and iPads . Now I am a mobile app developer ,I do both Swift and Kotlin . Funny enough if I never switched to IOS ,I don’t Think I would have been a mobile app developer,it was out of curiosity that I started learning more about how apps are build in IOS which lead me to learn also how apps are built in Android .

This is the kind of excellent personalized experience you only get when buying stuff on physical retailers. The guy who conducted the interview is an amazing seller. We must break the illusion of the “iPhones are more intuitive” thesis. People are just used to it. If we were led by real necessities (not just marketing), experiences like the ones these contestants had would result on a more diversified phone market.

I looooove this. I went from the Blackberry ecosystem to Fold 3 based on the positive talk I heard from Linus a few years ago. It was very difficult to go from a phone line I had grown up with to Samsung (I didn't foresee myself going to iPhone). However, I really, really love this format because everyone wants something different from a device. On top of that, the way they could feel and play with each device in the beginning with someone to answer their questions without guiding them was neat.

Google photos organisation isn’t picked up by any third party apps. Google needs you to organise your photos in the files app for third party apps to pick up any organisation. Instagram was buggy beyond belief. Loved everything else. Just can’t do it with those being so awful.

I've owned 7 Android phones and 3 iPhones since 2011. My experience with every single Android phone has been.. X stopped working be it the camera, wifi, microphone, speakers or whatever. I call for service. "Oh! You're using THAT hardware revision of THAT phone model with THAT firmware and THAT version of Android OS on THAT carrier? EVERYBODY KNOWS that's a problematic combination. It's just common knowledge and isn't covered under warranty!!!" I've had that exact same situation happen twice over the years. Once with Verizon and once with Sprint. The android phone manufacturer said they couldn't help me and to contact the carrier. The carrier said it was MY fault I upgraded to the latest Android OS that THEY pushed to my phone. I should have know it was going to cause things to break and therefore there was nothing they could do for me.

Honestly wish there was a way to do this for the average consumer. Basically a “trial phone” where you use android for like 30 days while keeping your original (likely iPhone) as well for the emergencies where you just need to use you the familiar OS. Just gives people the ability to get familiar with other options.

This is really funny to watch, cuz I recently left my Android for iPhone. While some things are certainly different, I def feel like the "modern smartphone experience" has become so similar, it really doesn't matter what OS you use, it's more a question of what features you want.
