So it's no brainer to work with Valve when half of your market is also using STEAM to capture more customers. EDIT Game-Developers who are low-funded like me would definitely want GOG to push forward on working with Valve on a cross platform. ---- Give us STEAM and GOG cross platform on STEAM Deck as well this will allow us DRM and DRM-Free crowd to do what we want to keep our games.

Preorders are only stupid for software, which can be duplicated infinitely. For hardware, or back in the day when all games came on physical disks, games too, preorders were the best way to make sure customers got what they were after. We should still be doing preorders for hardware, all the time, since it's the best way to both overcome scalpers and make sure supply can meet demand.

honestly, the most attractive feature of the steam deck for me is already having a comprehensive library of all my favourite games. the experience of buying a console (the switch for me) is always soured by those first few weeks with very few games and little reason to play it over your pc
@OneThousand983 жыл бұрын
That's kind of your own fault for not buying more games when you buy a console (the switch for you) though? I have like 300 games in my Steam Library, but most of them are total garbage. I actually play two of them, Civ 6 and PuBG. This handheld would be absolutely awful to play Civ6 on, and you might be able to get PuBG to work on it, but the framerate would be low and graphics settings would need to go to low / medium. Even still the controls on the Steam Deck are awful for FPS games, so I can't see myself playing PuBG on it... Whereas on the Switch I have Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Mario Odyssey and Zelda BOTW, four great games which work really well on handheld / joypad controls. I think the biggest issue the Cleveland Steamer has is that most PC games are not in any way set up for Joypad control. Those that are, are usually low-budget indie platformers which are just... meh.

I don't remember how I approached Steam summer sale but on the Playstation 4 I have regularly bought a game when it was at 90% discount. I ended up having bought games I hadn't looked at for longer than 1 second having no idea what games I had in my library. Part of the fun is though the surprise when I go through my library and the excitement of: What will be on sale this time at 90% what I will buy. Well: I stopped doing that but I had great fun taking this approach to shopping for games during a period of 1 to 2 months.

Update: I definitely remember how I approaches Steam summer sale. Completely different from Playstation 4 store. I was looking to buy every game which had a review score of overwhelmingly positive irregardless of price during Steam summer sale. That resulted in a great library of mostly Indie games in the particular year in the past when I did that. Playing around with shopping can be great fun.

The chonkiness is smart. It looks a lot more comfy than either the switch or the neo, the ergonomics of the sticks prevent interfering with the touchpads, and the heat comfort of it too. They know they can't make it pocketable, so may as well make it as comfy as can be while still case portable.

@MrYodaBomb3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Welcome to the channel. Linus is amazing at giving his take on tech and he does it in an entertaining low key way while still getting you all the info you want. I can always count on him saying how he feels about something because I know he isn’t just trying to build up a company for sponsorship. He is always very clear with his viewers and any sponsors that he will give his honest opinion on a product no matter if he is getting paid to show it or not. I can recall several videos where a company sponsored him to review their product and he pointed out its flaws and sometimes even said he doesn’t recommend buying the product.

Linus is an OG legend who does what he wants. I’m primarily an Apple user but even I love this channel and his other channels, if that tells you anything. He usually has pretty fair assessments of everything and doesn’t sugar coat it, even if the company is a long-time sponsor, like Intel. And he seems to be a legitimately good guy with a nice family who seems to take good care of his employees and they seem to have a pretty good retention rate, at least among the on-screen talent. He doesn’t live lavishly like other huge YT channels, he instead invests a lot back into Linus Media Group. I mean hell, he only recently got a nicer house than I have, and I’m just your average run-of-the-mill web developer. Although lately he was talking about buying a 150” miniLED TV that cost a couple hundred thousand, but was going to try to get 10 videos worth of content out of it, including liquid cooling it to heat his new pool, lol. I love the crazy ideas they come up with for videos, and that keeps me coming back, along with the quality people that work here.
