I'll probably be referencing this soon. I use one of these bobs on a cnc router using a 7i92m, but plan to do a similar setup but for a Chinese lathe I have. So I should be able to use the 0-10v optoisolated to the factory motor control board in place of the potentiometer for speed control and then wire the encoder up the way you have here. I'll be using pncconf though, not stepconf.

Very nice video, looks simple. I am planning on doing similar with Gecko G540 controller with only 4 inputs, normally intended for limit switches. I use same Gecko for both CNC mill and lathe (Have to switch connectors). What is not explained in this video is this encoder "index" which supposed to be pin 13. Your slotted wheel has one slot longer and at the other place, one teeth is missing. Where do you get your "index" signal from as you are only using a simple photo sensor?
@drnda20073 жыл бұрын
ok, checked this encoder index .. it is an additional pulse, produced once per rotation as a confirmation. Maybe your optical sensor has two channels then?

Hey! I’m using two photosensors one for index one for rotation

thanks for your great video.how can i learn cnc linux?what kind of break out board do you use?
@jatseq3 жыл бұрын
Hey! For lathe I use cheap lpt board. For mill I use mesa card. The best solution to learn linuxcnc is to read documentation linuxcnc.org/docs/html/. You will find everything there. If you have any questions just ask and I will try to help :)

@@jatseq not has how connect home switch inductive 3 wire sensor, not found anywere, i use normal mechanic SW to limit SW but home SW need use inductive M5 3 wire pnp NO sensor, i has orden npn sensor, and i use similar cheap chinese controller board were home input have pin 11,12,13, but i not understand how connect 3 wire sensor to board, GND to GND, sensor positive to power supply ? and signal/load wire to board input etc, 11,12,13,15 ? maybe this ? positive i have board input power 12V same wire need connect sensor positive ?
@jatseq Жыл бұрын
@@mattivirta hello! you are on good track! The inductive sensor needs power to work. So in case of pnp you connect gnd to gnd sensor + to +12V or whatever the voltage rating of the sensor is. And the 3rd wire is a signal wire and that is what you connect to input on your board. But remember that you are using the pnp NO sensor so when the switch is engaged it will "output" +12v on signal wire

@@jatseq yes thats i worry have right, i use same cheap chinese parallerport board, i worry if this positive volt to pin 12 etc, burn board. or need me orden NPN sensor NO, working this better this board, same board but you have blue colour i have green colour but sensors need 12 volt then working , limit SW mechanic working well my project, i build CNC my son. i use linux cnc too, but have my first time use linux, before i has build same board many windows base mach3 cnc but windows not have good, not realtime and problem lot interrupts and not can customise (if undertand make code and hal and ui and ini files) but i not understand hahaha. but i want use linux because have later lot better customise if my son interesting more build and make code better than me. if sensors working next step have i need understand how automatic 3 axis zeroing can make linux, i has try learn lot but not totally understand what need doing. my english not good and translator not work whit code translate good all go wrong.

czy tarcza enkodera moze miec tylko 18 zebow ? , czy ilosc 60 jest wymagana do prawidłowego funkcjonowania
@jatseq3 жыл бұрын
