I wish I had this walkthrough when I first adopted suckless tools. I avoided patching for too long by adopting other people's builds. I thought the process would be too complicated and painful. Now I find it awkward to use anything else because I've patched the suckless desktop environment exactly the way I want it to work. This video shows how straightforward patching can be. It was instructive and should help people get over any fear. I appreciate how you tested each change before moving on to the next, showed how to logically resolve two different diffs, and explained each customization. Thanks for the great video. Gruvbox fans unite!

@cjennings. Thank you so much for the feedback and kind words... You have officially made my day! That was my goal when I started making tutorials/walk-throughs... Make the videos I wanted to watch when I first started out, but do it my way... I wanted to make it simple but dumbing things down is condescending and not helpful... Breaking things down is a better way because it doesn't insult the audience's intelligence and leaves a channel of discussion open for everyone.

Yeah, sorry about that. I did several takes of this and it worked out that the one where I stuttered the least was the one I forgot to zoom in on the terminal...

@miyolinux. I had just got them yesterday and was a little self conscious about it... But most everyone has had good things to say about my new glasses. I wouldn't call myself a professor/doctor, but the esteem and ego boost is much appreciated.

@@linuxdabbler Brother...they suit you well! I've worn glasses since I was 2 years old. I learned long ago, it's much better to be able to see than to worry whether or not people like my glasses. Hahahaha! In fact, my beautiful wife told me that my wearing glasses was one of the things that attracted her to me...of course, that's apart from my manly good-looks and debonair personality. LOLOLOLOL!!! I hope they're helping you! Good video Mike; thank you!

@itsjemadux. His builds of st, dwm, and dmenu are easy to build on devuan. I did it a while back (not on camera)... Just clone his repos, install the dependencies, and install them normally... I do think his builds require harfbuzz, but that's in the repos, so no big deal . The only thing she I can think of that might need changing are his dwmblocks scripts.
