This is good. Especially having a screen and can see where you are navigating to without looking at Ableton. I use session view to run tracks. How would this work in Session view since there are no locators there?

I have a big question please, how can i send midi to multiple devices from Live with perfect midi clock sync , like to change guitar pedals CC and arps, keys and SPD etc via midi clips triggering in Ableton ? Do i need a midi box like MOTU or can i daisy chain from my audio interface the midi thru via all devices?? Whats the best solotion?

I think it’s an awesome video. The purpose wasn’t for training; it was an introduction to the product to see if you’re interested. If you don’t want it, don’t get it. Personally, I appreciate the video (all of Will’s videos are great) and I’d like one of these products. I use my iPad for tons on things, but sometimes a dedicated, tactile controller is great, especially in a live situation when directing the band, playing keys, and controlling Ableton. Is there a place in the US where it can be purchased or only online from France?

Hi Connor, a new firmware will be released in a few days. You will be able to create setlists and add markers and rename them (in the LIOBOX), each marker having a different MIDI note, you can then map these notes to your DAW.

Problem I see with it is the USB connection. I play in the band and control tracks from stage. Computer is off to the side of the stage. Too far away to use a USB connection. We use mioXM at present with a midi foot controller. I don’t think this would work for us due to USB cable length limits.

Run ethernet from the mioXM to the laptop? That's what I did, ~150' away... I'm on the stage, laptop was in the soundbooth. iPad - mio - ethernet - laptop. No need for the laptop to be talking to the internet, or WiFi, or anything else, for me anyway.

@@MattLGreer Yeah the mio is awesome for running midi over long distances over Ethernet. We use it at every gig, 2 or 3 shows a week and it never skips a beat. But I doubt you could extend the USB to a LioBox with it as it sounds like it is sending more than just midi to the box from the script in Ableton. So no use for a real application where the laptop is off to side of stage. Pity as it looks real nice otherwise. Now if they brought out an Ethernet connected one, that would be killer.

Hi Mark, the LIOBOX is MIDI COMPLIANT, so you can connect it to any MIDI card. LIOBOX can be connected via USB to all Iconnectivity products, many of our customers use these products to remote their LIOBOX. You can find tutorials on the support page of our website.

Hi Darren, the LIOBOX works the same way in session or arrangement mode. In session mode, LIOBOX detects the scene names and displays them on its screen.

~$350 US for that. Nifty, but somehow I think an iPad app for $20 would be able to do the same thing without paying for the hardware. Is there an app that does that already? edit: Just can't get over the price for something that does *one thing*, more or less. Send MIDI messages to Ableton.

TouchOSC for ipad could be used as a midi controller, but to your point, an ipad costs 400$ and a physical controller is sometimes more useful in a live setting.

it's worth every penny. It doesn't do one thing.. It's a fully customizable MIDI controller, setlist management app (without the need to install an app) and it's custom made for playback. It's an amazing bargain. I bought mine (wasn't given to me) and happy to spend every penny.

@@fromstudiotostage I respect your opinion of course. Just seems like the same thing could be done with an iPad app without the cost for the hardware. The one thing it does do that I wish I could figure out is get the names of the markers back into the interface. That's a neat trick.
