I have been binge-watching Master Siow and Gm Chan's drumming. They are very consistent with their rhythm, tempo and accents! Its very easy to follow and listen. Insteresting thing is that Master Siow starts with Left and GM Chan starts with Right for the basic rhythm.

to be honest and no disrespect to Master Siow - his drumming is good, not to mention his contribution to Malaysia lion dance world, but he is not 鼓王status. i have been drumming for 30 years and i think Master Chan from 鹤桥 is by far the only lion dance 鼓王 for those who have not watched Master Chan's drumming - here's the link kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6SzeZxooZVjb7s - its crisp and sharp. Not sure of the history of Hok San Lion Dance but it seems like Master Siow was the understudy of GM Chan for years. In many videos you can see GM Chan leading. I think Master Siow would consider to Second to GM Chan. I've watched many Lion Dance Drum videos, I think alot of troupes doesn't have the basic rhythm done properly? I always hear something like a triplet rhythm, something that is very different from M. Siow and GM Chan
