These mountain lions all hanging out at the hollow log is unbelievable, obviously a good size litter. I don't think I will be sitting on any logs to rest anymore, don't cherish being an uninvited guest to dinner. That appears to be a very comfortable place to take a cat nap. It is nice you were able to find this log and recognized a good opportunity. Beautiful animals.

We saw little clues here and there, but we were certainly surprised by what we caught on camera! We often share how standing snags are great for wildlife, but we weren't even thinking of the value of old growth snags on the forest floor..nature's always surprising us and leaving us in awe 🙂

Bizarrely like a Beatrix Potter story except real. The family of lions with their home. All the other creatures dropping by. With 5 lions in there...just imagine the sheer yardage of lovely furry tails!

We believe it's more of a temporary refuge for many different critters, as opposed to a home for those lions, but yes! It's a wonder how they all fit in there.

Great video, you were right the bear did a number on your camera. I lost 2 like that, now I use the steel boxes with a pad lock, also use a 4 inch lag bolt to bolt it to the tree, bears try but no su7ccess. did have one bite sideways and hit the lens. That camera became target practice.

We try to use lock boxes as much as we can, but we don't own as many lock boxes as we do cameras yet..they're on our donation wish list though!

Lovely wild cats! Another awesome video. At 8:20, we gotta build a bigger lion hollow! Wow. By 10:51, they all managed to fit in there sort of. And at 12:34, let me in there! So much for cougars being solitary creatures. And at 13:13, you get to be my adorable pillow. By 13:43, nap time for everybody. Lucky for the wolf at 19:08, no big cat was around. Everybody at 20:56 wants to check out the lion hollow when the lions are not there, lol. And finally, at 21:16, black bears always need to mess with trail cams. Perhaps they don't appreciate the 'surveillance state' expanding into their domain? Relax Mr. Bear. Most of us just want to see you. Most of us are not trying to track your every move, control you or sell you stuff on Amazon. You guys provide some of the best wildlife content on KZbin. I feel fortunate that i have found you!

That is a lot of females that will soon be breeding. It is just like that around my house. At some point we'll have to recognize a population explosion of mountain lions. I love having them around the house but I now carry bear spray when I get more than 50 feet from my house. Thank you for posting this spectacular video compilation. LOL, the bears do that to my cameras too.

All cats have this thing about small spaces. I've had cats as pets in my younger yrs and they all would jump into everything , drawers , grocery bags etc etc. This vid had be in stitches at times. LOL

Hah thank you! This was a family group and mama raised four cubs to dispersal age, which is about the age they were at when this was taken. So they're likely not still together. But there seems to be a lot of research and learning recently that lion's social lives are much more complex than we all thought!

We're a conservation and experiential education nonprofit! We use our trail camera footage to better understand behaviors of the surrounding wildlife, and we will share information with land management agencies and other decision-making groups. We also conduct a Rare Carnivore Monitoring project with partners like TNC, BLM, USFS, and the Rocky Mountain Research Institute at the university. Glad you enjoyed the video!

We saw the cubs on camera when they still had spots on them, and they're likely no longer together - they had just reached average dispersal age when we got this video - glad they were still around to keep each other warm though 🙂
