Yes. A shawl is generally flat, either a rectangle or a triangle (think oversized scarf) that you can wrap, pin, tie, etc., whereas a shrug may be the same basic shape, but will have sleeves or armholes for a little more structure. Hope this helps!

readerscout4069 a shrug is stitched so there are arm holes. Lion brand yarn.com has these free patterns.

Only " finishing, customizing " mentioned was wearing a belt, or from the peanut gallery using a shawl pin. I find no fault with this young lady however. She was just reading the script from lion brand's advertising firm, whom I'm sure they are pouring hundreds of thousands, or millions of dollars into to improve LB sales. Me personally, I ON was my go-to especially for baby yarns , and OMG I love homespun, it is soft and "wooly" feeling against my skin. I used to be allergic to wool like BAD allergic but was overwhelmed as well as overjoyed to learn that is no longer the case.... But I still can't wear it for long on my torso, especially over the ribs and lower back. Homespun let me still experience squwooshy squishy sweaters, but not anymore because it has become way to expensive to buy a sweaters worth every year like I used too. I'm going to order some of the yarn you used here to try, thank you Ruby!
