Champions League and World Cup are not individual awards so neither Ballon D'or , I still don't get the logic but I`m pretty sure that`s how it works nowadays . Pretty much everyone is saying that Ronaldo or Modric will win this year , they were laughable in La Liga , even Atletico Madrid finished above Real Madrid though it doesn't mean shit since RMA won CL .

The problem is that if the Ballon D'or is truly an award for excellence, then they'd have to give it to Leo every damn year....because he's on a different level than every other player in the world today! But we all know the awards are a part of marketing as well...and someone like Ronaldo, along with being a fab player, is also more marketable than Messi. Taking into account last year, Messi surpassed Ronaldo in every category, from goals to assists to passes to accuracy. The only thing he didn't win is the UCL and Ronaldo won it coz of Bale's goal and his team's efforts. If that's enough to surpass all other stats, then there's nothing more to say! I don't deny even once that CR7 is a fantastic player, but no one can be Messi. He beats Ron even in the latter's most dangerous area which is goal scoring. So one can imagine what Leo truly is! It is u who is clueless if u can't see what players like Modric, Kroos, Casemiro etc have done for RMA in UCL! Sure CR7 scored the goals, but they created them! And if dragging ur team to UCL quarter finals means Ballon D'or, then Messi did the same, right? The one game he didn't play well, his team lost. I remember when the ballon d'or was something exciting, getting nervous to see who would win because it was an award for the best individual player. No hate towards Ronaldo, hes a living legend and I have nothing but respect for him but the last maybe 2 or 3 years its shown that it's no longer an individual award anymore it's more of a whichever team gets the biggest trophy and whose the best player on that team. Messi was beyond better than everyone else in every category but since he only got la Liga he isn't gonna win it and it just runs the hype feeling I use to get. It doesn't mean anything anymore tbh
