But look at the how the CDM goes to cover messi's view to the goal just as he receives the ball He was desperate to give messi little space Look at the time messi takes his shot, there is basically only one way through the gap between those 3 players, his shot was almost blocked, but he picked that gap perfectly and landed it in the bottom corner. That's what makes him dangerous, mexico actually defended messi well, there were always 3 players on him and he was not allowed any space. But just for a second he was given a bit of space and he scores. at 35 since he can't make those quick runs anymore he drops deep and still poses a threat. Messi might have declined from who he was but even a declined messi is one of the best.
