The Argentinians were so exhausted from running and running that Messi and Biglia, due to fatigue, kicked horribly. That's not luck, that's poor penalty execution and bad technical judgment in putting fatigued players to take them. The penalties from Chile, except for Vidal's one which was saved, are a masterpiece of execution, cold blood, and professionalism. Penalties are practiced, just like free kicks, with or without a wall, just like practicing a wall pass or a corner kick. Penalties have never been luck, it’s a one-touch play, like many that happen in the game during the 90 regular minutes. Saying it's luck is a fallacy that only seeks to minimize the pain and bitterness of the loser. Did you see the penalties in the 2015 Copa? It's the same, a masterpiece of penalties, same teams, different kickers for some of the shots, but the idea is the same. Penalties are part of football, not a smoke signal to make it rain

But the Argentine team, with their '10', the best '10' in history on the field, couldn't do it. Díaz's red card was a bullshit decision by the referee. Maybe the story would have been different with all the chances Díaz could have created, freeing Vidal from recovery duties and allowing him to focus solely on attacking as a false 9. And to top it off, the one who's a magician with the ball sends it wide. In the simplest play of football: hitting the ball correctly with the foot. no 1 v 4, o 1 v 5, , THE 1 v 1 penalty kick.

I think that if they can't even beat Uruguay, Colombia, or Chile, it doesn't matter if they watch and study Brazil or Argentina. Mexico conceded 7 goals against Chile. If they keep playing in CONCACAF, where only Mexico gives them a fight, the other countries are just one unpaid check away from having to play in a dusty field, barefoot.
