I don't understand why Messi has to be judged by several goals. A player like Messi holds the ball and distributes accordingly to give them possessions. When Messi drops back, they dominate the midfield and outnumber the opponent.

I don’t know why everyone is saying he’s “slower” or “less dangerous.” Seems to me that Messi’s passing, dribbling, and speed is still there. His role in the team is just different. Now he’s a facilitator with dangerous long-range passing, clinical through balls, and complete control of the mid-field. And he will still take on players from time to time to disrupt the defensive shape.

Agreed. At Barca most of the time he was playing on the right as a winger or up front through the middle even up front as a false 9 but at PSG he's more like a CAM like in this match for example when you look at the line up he was playing behind Mbappe & Di Maria. I definitely see where people cone from but the reason for why he's probably not performing well is because this team lacks chemistry and Poch is not really helpful in changing the team still looks like just a whole lot of players from everywhere thrown together in the summer but 6 months later it's still the same no cohesion

Man, I haven’t tuned into a PSG match in a while. I was concerned when I saw that Messi missed his PK while Ronaldo got his goals in. I was like, “there is no way he’s slipping up”. This highlight brought me solace. The dude is still healthy. I agree with some of the other comments, he’s more of a facilitator, and he looks dangerous! I do miss seeing more of his speed bursts, but I still love watching him play!

PSG dominated Madrid in every aspect of this game, and Messi was the heart of everything PSG did in that game. He was the number 6,8,10. Yes he missed the penalty, but his game was on point. I think pochetino should let Messi and Mbappé play, take out Di Maria and play an extra midfielder to support Messi and Mbappé for them to focus on attacking. Messi can feed him and Mbappé will finish, let the full backs of PSG get involved in attacks as they’re playing extremely conservatively. Messi, is always seen and judged by his own genius. People expect magic in every second, but him playing like this, is still head and shoulders above everyone and Madrid players know that best.
