I always loved the original version of this Ritchie song and I am a Shania Twain fan....After watching the 2022 documentary on Twain's life and learning the circumstances under which this duet was recorded (Twain was suffering from Lyme disease, her voice changing and her marital problems), I am probably a bigger fan of this version...it brings me to tears. We would be celebrating our 33 year wedding anniversary but he passed away this past October 2021. I am going to spend the weekend at a Lodge with a room overlooking the lake to celebrate by myself. He is still with me just not physically. I always told him that if he passed away before I do to send me a sign that he is okay. About three weeks after he passed away, I received a quarter and a dime from 1989 in my change at the post office. That was the year we got married! Just last week when I was on hold with an insurance company the song "Get Ready" started to play. It played for a few seconds before a representative came on the line. That was the song that was playing when we met in 1988 when I asked him to dance! He has sent me many signs to let me know that he is still here with me. He was and always will be my ENDLESS LOVE. Our love is eternal. I will meet him again in heaven someday. You can see some of his videos on youtube. He was a local celebrity here in Nashville known as the NASHVILLE CLOGGER. I MISS HIM EVERYDAY BUT KNOW THAT HE IS IN HEAVEN WATCHING OUT FOR ME!

Actually this was a come back of Shania Twain on 2012 after of years of not singing due to her desease. And the recording session of this was so memorable to her since she's suffering from inferiority complex back then. So thanks to Lionel for convincing her to record this with him. It took her so much effort to conquer her fear.

I think Lionel's voice is a bit more mature since then, and I love his performance in this version. I like the emotion of Shania Twain.

And for those who don't know, Shania had given up singing, after losing her voice to depression, after catching her husband Mutt Lang-, with her best friend.They divorced.Lionel Richie went to Shania and insisted she remake this song with him.She first said no. Shania had not sung in 10 years Then she decided to give it a try.Her and her sister, her husband now, Lionel and the instruments and microphones went to a private place to try and record the song.This was the outcome, of this beautiful man and women's duet.God Bless you both.Thanks Lionel

I liked this song when I was a kid, and since the first time I saw and heard Shania sing, I fell in love with her and the way she is able to say what she feels inside! So awesome! And after seeing this song I have a greater appreciation for not just the song but how he put his feelings into words. Seeing them sing this song together is so intriguing, I can't watch this video just once. I always wanted a woman to be so in love with me that she wrote it down, composed it and sang it to the world! I can only imagine how the man or woman they wrote songs about, felt so special and loved! I don't think any woman has ever felt that way about me, not to mention wrote a song for me. I watched the documentary about this. Lionel Richie, the great man, got Shania singing again. She had lost her confidence and had given up singing. It was a joy to watch him working with her, coaxing her, encouraging her with this great result.

Yes. This is true. She developed some kind of an issue with her vocal chords that stopped her from singing. To add to that she had her personal issues that led to a divorce. All this led to her almost giving up on singing. Anyways alls well now.

The issue with her voice was Lyme Disease, the same thing that nearly killed Avril Lavigne. Her vocal chords were partially paralyzed and she had to have surgery to get her voice back. Lionel did help her to start singing again. The "personal" issue that led to divorce was her then-husband Mutt Lange cheating on her with her best friend.
