I think Lionel is great but this song sounds has a generic modern sound and melody that could have been sung by any younger singer. I love much of Lionel's music, but this song has no character or emotion. Lionel's best work had variation in singing, melody and emotion, all of which were of high caliber and you were able to feel Lionel's personality. This song is just flat to me.

In 1986 my father RIP fell in love with my mom and the song "Hello" was a super hit at that time whenever he was driving he was listening "Hello" with mom. 20 years later after my high school graduation my mom took me to Australia it was a graduation gift from her. So when I was in Gold coast this song just recently came and I fell in love with it so I bought the C.D and downloaded it to my phone when my mom heard this song she said that Lionel Richie is your fathers favorite singer and ever since then from 2006 this song never left my phone and whenever i was with him in the car, every time we open this song and we sang together while he was dropping me home after college and now that hes gone in 2018 whenever i listen to it i burst into tears because i remember such wonderful time when we had in his car eating our burgers while we get home RIP Father whenever i listen to Lionel Richie i will always remember you
