Always interested in Lionel literature, been collecting instruction sheets and putting them in clear sleeves then in a 3 ring large notebook.

When you look at those prices and how much they must have set back a typical family, even the ones earning good union wages from making steel and cars and washing machines and TV sets, you realize how globalization made so many things more affordable for everyone! How much do you think Lionel, or Zenith, or RCA would have charged for a personal computer or a cellular phone made in the USA?

Yeah, quality was not cheap back in the day. The global economy has changed that for better or worse for sure. It was a different time, but that is why I enjoy playing with postwar trains even more now. Ain't nothing better!. Brian
