Year 2980 of the Third Age Chronicles of the Principality of Dol Amroth, as compiled by Turodhor, son of Turodhan. The captain Thorongil, hailing from the North, has come and won great fame amongst our people and the people of Minas Tirith, for he is a great captain of Men, fearless and bold, daring beyond belief. With great courage, he led us to victory against the Corsair fleets of Umbar, storming the very haven of our fallen Numenorean kin, and burning their great fleet. Yet as the smoke drifted to the East, Thorongil appeared to have gone with it, for he has departed, perhaps to return to the lands of his birth in the North. We must rely on our own arms and the courage of our own Captains to lead us into the days ahead. The Prince is long-sighted and foresees that despite the victory of Thorongil, war will soon come, and it would be ill-done to let our vigil over the sea wane in our comfort. He has begun to muster the forces to deal with the rabble left behind by the Corsairs in their strongholds and captured territories. For they besiege Linhir and hold Edhellond, two of our greatest towns, and it wears down our heart to bear arms. The Lord Imrahil gathered his knights and his men-at-arms to march to the relief of Linhir, but the Corsairs had anticipated such a move, and a small force was arrayed in wait to spring upon them on the march. Caught out upon the hillside, Lord Imrahil arrayed his forces wide with cavalry on the flanks and the levies marshalled behind Lord Imrahil and his guard. As rain began to fall upon the battlefield, the Lord Imrahil led his guard and the levied cavalry rode down the main force of the enemy, smashing into their ranks from afore and behind. So cunning and fierce was the Lord Imrahil that he led his knights in and through the amassed forces of the enemy host, shattering the enemy forces. They Corsairs were routed and the horsemen rode them down, taking many captive and driving the rest back into the sea. Meanwhile, the vanguard of Lord Imrahil's forces rode ahead of the infantry force to join a garrison commanded by the Prince Adrahil laying siege to the occupied haven of Edhellond. Other levies were called up and their lords gathered to push the Corsairs from our lands. With the forces of Dol Amroth assembled, the Prince and his son led the assault to reclaim our legacy. On a day hidden by the clouds of the Enemy's shadow, our forces were arrayed all around the hillside to assault the city from all sides. Afeared of the display of our strength, the enemy clustered at the heart of the town. They sent out their archers to harry our approach, our Captains seized the advantage and led a charge into their ranks, cutting through the enemy archers before they could release their volleys of arrows, while the levies moved along the flanks. The host of the foe was thrown into disarray and a brief, intense battle raged along the edge of the hillside before the defenses collapsed and allowed the cavalry to crush their rear. Yet the foe's desperation was strong and many fought to the last, for fear of what their Dark Lord had whispered in the nightmares of their fates if they failed. Elsewhere, Captain Amandir of the coastal forts led a small force against raiding Corsairs where the Anduin flows into the Sea. Thrice outnumbered, he arrayed his levies to hold the line while his horseman harried their flanks, drawing their host apart. Swiftly their treacherous captain fell to a great charge by the levy horsemen. In despair, their lesser warriors fled the field, to be cut down by the cavalry. Fierce fighting continued against the greater host, yet the descendants of the Faithful proved their valor by routing the enemy host. Yet the King's Men of Umbar were ever in love with their ships and moved their surviving ships against our island forts and routing our fleet, aided by a fell wind from Mordor.

Just a litle tip. If you want to make sure an enemy army is completely wiped out then you need to hit the magic 85% mark of enemies killed. Once you hit that the remaining units will be wiped off of the map. This won't apply if a proper enemy general survives the fight. You also need to be aware if fighting multiple armies in one fight, you need to wipe out 85% of each army not an overall battle total of 85%.

Hi Lionheart! Great to see you doing more Third Age content, I’m in the middle of a Gondor campaign and did a Dol Amroth one before that. I found that taking Barad Harn and Tirithoros in the south across the Mouth of the Anduin and holding them early relieves a lot of pressure off Gondor. However, taking these means you’ll be harassed by Khand, Harad and the Ar-Adûnâim which can make for some interesting roleplay as your holding of the South will directly influence whether Gondor can successfully hold back Mordor. Looking forward to watching this series!

Tales of the Rangers 1...... It had been several years and a few generations since the fall of the Black Gates to the forces of Mordor and the incursions into Osgiliath. The Dark Lord Sauron was spreading his influence far and wide across the lands as he commanded legions of Goblins, Orcs, and Uruk-hai across vast stretches of land. He has made allies of some tribes of men to the South, the Haradrim and Easterlings, and the seas are tormented by fleets of Umbar Corsairs he controls as well. It is the Third Age and war was coming upon all of Middle Earth in many ways. The Dwarves prepare to fight off the Govlins and Orcs that infest the nearby mountains to their fortresses, the Elves prepare to likely do nothing, and those nations of men that still yet stand prepare to face the brunt of Saurons forces in combat. Perhaps that’s why he was down in near Dol Amroth, close to the Gondorian lands that surely will be tried and tested here as the forces of Mordor come closer to attacking it. Râddir was an odd lad, by default he looked no more than 20 and yet was in his late 30’s. He was Dunedain, one of the last of the northern kingdom to the north near the Shire. He wore the clothing and armor of a Dunedain Ranger, brown clothes with a dark evergreen cloak with a hood currently over his head, his face currently had a mask on it. He was cleaning his bow, long ago crafted from the trunk of a hewed oak tree and had served him well. His back had a sword beneath the cloak with an opening half way up to allow quicker removal in combat and a long dagger as well. He armor was mainly of leather to stay light and had the symbol of the Dunedain imprinted upon it. He wasn’t alone here, there were 40 Rangers from various nearby enclaves that had survived and gathered here: Watchers of the Black Gate, some from Osgiliath, other Dunedain from the northern kingdom, and some from close to Dol Amroth. Each with their own unique look and weapon sets, each having been brought up and taught different techniques. He looked out to the sea. They had to get moving soon, more orcs were going to be down at the coast soon.

My favorit fact: Edhellond was founded by the elves in the first age, and the name Dol Amroth comes from the King of Lorien who was called Amroth searched for his Nimrodel (wife) and waited for her in Edhellond. Also, the Numenorians settled down in Belfalas.

So happy. Dol Amroth plays best by going for the kill on the AA corsairs. Taking Umbar stops the invasions.if you can’t hold it, selling it to Khand likely starts a war between AA and Khand making you happy. Use your forts! And any sea battle against corsairs needs a 4 to 1 advantage to win.

Hi Lionheartx10! I m looking forward to your Dol Amroth campaign! I love your intro, I find it epic! Epic start for an epic campaign! To answer your question what I like best about Dol Amroth. I think it is culture and history. It is a mix of Numenorean, Dunedain, and elven culture. The inhabitants of this area still hold strong to this ancestral heritage. It is a mix of all my favorite civilizations in middle earth and I find it as amazing. Right, now time for advice. First I would remind you again the other character is not an older son but married to your daughter. That is all to be said. You did a good job with cavalry but be careful with your generals. I think you should try to limit the use of cavalry during sieges because they have an easier chance to get caught. However, in that open field battle, you did a good job with all your cavalry. For dealing with the Ar-ardunain's/corsairs' fleets there are no easy solutions. There is the first plan of taking the risk and ferrying troops across. However I think this is the worst idea because your units are expensive and if you lose a fleet, you would lose an investment, in addition, you would lose a lot of family members. The second plan is to just accept the head on slugfest across the river and through Hrad land. However, these blockading fleets are a problem for your income. You need every coin you can get. Third plan? Build a fleet of your own. I know they have better ships but you can defeat them with superior numbers. It is expensive but you will not lose money from blockades and you regain money when you lose ships. These are my suggestions. Let the Swan Knights charge! I am behind you all the way!
@awesomefinnbro61904 жыл бұрын
Note: You asked about the family-tree, if you take closer look you may notice that Lord Imrahil is the *only* male son (and heir) of Prince Adrahil. Other men are married to Imrahil's *sisters,* making them his brothers-in-laws rather than actual brothers.

Hello from Athens, Englishman. I am really happy that you returned to DaC and you enjoy it. I really like Dol Amroth and I look forward to see your aspect to the campaign. As always, I'll be by your side with my aspect of the moves I think you should do, comments and info from my knowledge of LOTR. For this comment, please excuse the length, as I want to pinpoint some things. First of all, it's a good move that you got rid of the rebels, as they affect the public order in the region they are, which results in loss of money. So, all you need is to eliminate them. They won't attack you so early, but in some turns- 30, I think- they will attack you and cause problems. Second, wait in your relations with Khand, as the Blue Wizards script will kick on. Khand will probably stay with Mordor, which doesn't change anything, but they may side with the Wizards, so you'll have another ally in the south. Third, good move to take Edhellond early, as one of your most important units comes from there and is a rich town to have. Finally, I suggest that you take a look on the v4 overview that Arachir Galudirithon has uploaded in his channel, as it applies also to v3 that you play- actually nothing changes. There, you'll find precious info on how you'll play, how to make money and how to manage your military. Cheers, friend, I wait with anticipation the next episodes.

1:38 AGGHHH, that pronunciation almost made my ears explode! Ar-Adunaim is pronounced: Ar-AH-doon-AY-yim But, pronunciation aside, this is going to be an awesome campaign. The unstoppable force on Dol Amroth's cavalry will meet the immovable object of Lionheart's cavalry handling! You definitely want to focus on building up your economy early on, since your units are relatively expensive, especially your elites. Your lower-tier units will out-class their Harad and Ar-Adunaim counterparts, so you can afford to mostly rely on them in the early game, backed up by a few elites and your very powerful bodyguards. You should push across the Anduin to take the first couple of territories on the southern side, if only to provide a bit of a buffer between the enemy and your heartlands. Just make sure, whatever you do, that you don't let Imrahil or Adrahil get trapped in a settlement with a small garrison. The Ar-Adunaim's push toward you along the coastal territories will take a while because one of the settlements there (Gobel Mirlond) has a large rebel garrison, so you'll mostly be facing Harad early on. One plan to consider is putting a large army on ships and launching a quick strike on Umbar. The goal would just be to take it, sack it, destroy all the buildings and then retreat, just for the money and to stop the Corsair invasions (though that will have to wait until you can get naval superiority).

Hearing that the once great city of Edhellond had been occupied by bandits and warlords, Prince Adrahil gathered together a mighty host and with himself at the very vanguard, lead a charge to take back the city where once men and elves had mingled and created the great bloodlines that the proud peoples of Dol Amroth hold so dear. The forces of the prince closed in and surrounded their foes the prince determined to put to the sword every bandits and sell-sword that had taken over the ruins of the great city. Once the battle was finished the men of Dol Amroth vowed to repopulate and rebuild this illustrious and historical city once more. But what force could drive these men to occupy Edhellond and with such armed forces? Surly no mere bandit lord could hold this coin. A search of the bodies would provide an answer. Promises of gold and power for forces to occupy these ruins, signed with a symbol of an eerie and ominous eye. - Tales of Dol Amroth: Machinations of the Great Eye. On the fringes of the great Principality, unrest had come in the form of roaming and maddened savages and bandits. Feeling that Linhir was in peril, Amandir, a man that had married his way into the Royal family, set out to prove his worth to his family as a proud man of Dol Amroth. With thunderous hooves the invaders were rode down with ruthless efficiency. Yet this victory only came to the herald of yet another wave of savages. Their origin now made clear, these were the broken men of Umbar that had been sent adrift when Gondor ruined their raiding fleets. These maddened men sought to bring bloody raids to the weaker parts of the Principality whom these wandering warlords still hated with passion. Of greater concern was the tales that once more black ships of the Corsairs sailed once more under a new banner and that a patrol of ships had been sent lost to the sea before the might of the black ships. It would seem that once more war was creeping up on Dol Amroth, from a foe that sought to control the water ways and have quick access to the lands of the descendants of Numenor. - Tales of Dol Amroth: Danger at the Border

Some basic tips for helping you out long term: 1.) Population is key, do everything you can to boost population even if it means lowering taxes or building expensive buildings that boost populations growth 2.) Keep the pressure on Harad and Umbar, they will just keep throwing full stacks at you if you let them as they have a ton of super cheap units as well as money cheats 3.) Any units that take a long time to replenish you should get as soon as you can, so that you can start the replenishment counter sooner. I am sure you know a decent amount of this but it is always good to keep it in mind.
@apollomars16784 жыл бұрын
send trait agreements to EVERYONE and you will get more money. ports are more important and population of guard can fuc you in turn 300+ and money is a problem too. this is not third age, its D&C and in the recent versions happiness and corruption became stronger. its actual possible to rush umbar by boats and suprise attack son their main armies, but its difficult and take time and you have problems, if they hit you faster. best would be to use the OP charge with your good cav and simply misuse the topography for your advances in battles.

@@apollomars1678 There are going too be very few trade options as he's basically for the whole campaign bordered by Gondor or his enemies, trade yes through his ports but who can trade by sea ? basically Lindon from the start of the game and possibly Bree/Enedwaith/Dunland later depending if/when they can get coastal/river regions and build ports. Most of his trade for a long time will be from Gondor or internally.
@apollomars16784 жыл бұрын
@@PaulJohn01 the rivers count as see in this mod, to allow boat-transfers, thereby allowing many other nations to trade with you, so its difficult to moitor, explicit because many nations switch controll over some big ports in the enedwaith area. thereby its reasonable to make a trade deal, thereby improve relations, get the one time map infos at the same time and farm the "make trade agreement"-quests (in the 3.0 version for units in recent betas only money) i have to admit, that i tend to peac eout with some evil forces too, so that i can kill them off one by one. thereby getting trade from southern evil factions. Umba ris a bad peace-out faction, while they can be convinced, because they will attack you in their invasions. Harad is problematic too, because gondor tend to get defeated by mordor and harad together. BUT it is possible to take the southern regions, PEACE OUT ON MORDOR and than attack Harad. Mordor can sometimes trade over territorieties in the south of dol guldur, or dol guldur becomes a trad epartner or rohan, thes enations tend to fight over the regions.
@PaulJohn014 жыл бұрын
@@apollomars1678 Yes definitely sign as many trade deals as possible can never hurt, but those regions that Bree/Enedwaith/Dunland and possibly Iengard fight over have very low pops and the AI doesn't always prioritize building up a settlement or going for economy and as you say they can switch hands quite often, i think Lindon are the most reliable at trading by sea as they can do that from the start and are rather secure although even Ered Luin can build a few ports.

First just focus on building economy as you can have one of the best economies in the whole game ( no restrictions when it comes to upgrading cities/castles ) Harad should not be a huge challange when it comes to units ( your units are superior but they outnumber you). The biggest challange are Ardunaim since some of they units are better than yours (especially when it comes to archers and range units). About Khand I would not fight them unless they attack me because around turn 50 there is script and then can either choose Blue Wizards, hence be on your side or they will stick with Mordor and Rhun. If I were you I would go after Ardunaim first, take Umbar and stop the invasions and then go after Rhun.

I recommend getting a garrison building at Gobel Tofolas. Pardon my spelling
@Bishonmonten4 жыл бұрын
I forsee many (hopefully successful) defenses of Gobel Tolfalas in this campaign because in my Dol Amroth campaign the Hiradrim (sorry if I misspelled the name I am a horrible speller) would not leave it alone every five turns or so they would attack me there and I would defend it with the following units pikemen (3 or 4 of them were enough for me) melee infantry and archers and hold the bridge because if the enemy suffers enough morale shocks (i.e. the General dies) they will mass rout and if you have Calvary which I didn't because I'm a moron you can ride them down and wipe out the whole army.

One effective thing you can do in this game is to force units to clash. Meaning you give a movement order behind a unit, so that more men are clashing weapons. This can speed up melee engagements. Also, when in defense of a siege specifically, the ai likes to use this against you by "pushing" your men backwards by sending everything at the gates/choke point.

Very glad to see another Third Age campaign! I don't think I've ever played Dol Amroth myself, so this should be interesting. A thought on your generals and upkeep, though. While they are expensive per turn, is it worth putting them in forts to get rid of the upkeep? Good chivalrous generals like you start with can usually have an impact not only on taxes, but also population growth iirc. And unlike Empire, in Med II the population of a settlement actually directly effects your tax income from the settlement. So you might be shooting yourself in the foot long term to save a few bucks now.

Really looking forward to this campaign :) Not sure about the older brother thing, in the books Imrahil only had 2 sisters. Perhaps the mod creators wanted to expand the family tree so it doesn't get wiped out easily.
@nighthunter30394 жыл бұрын
Iirc he is his brother in law, he exists in the lore as well he is married into the family.
@Valaraukar944 жыл бұрын
@@nighthunter3039Whereabouts in the lore? Genuinely curious btw, the family tree I have only gives Imrahil two sisters, Ivriniel and Finduilas, not the three here. Ivriniel has no mentioned husband and Finduilas married Denethor 2nd so she's probably be in Gondors family tree in game. It looks to me like the mod creators moved Finduilas to Gondor and invented two new sisters and their husbands for gameplay reasons - which I have no issue with btw, most of the factions aren't even given family trees/ named leaders in the lore so they've got to be creative.
@nighthunter30394 жыл бұрын
@@Valaraukar94 I think Ardapedia has information on that. Its what I rember about him. (After we both wrote our comments there came up some more comments about him beeing a brother in law by the way)
@Valaraukar944 жыл бұрын
@@nighthunter3039 No disagreement on him being brother in law in game, I misread the family tree with them as brothers, not in laws :) I took a look at encyclopedia of Arda, Tolkien gateway etc after checking my books (ROTK appendices and History of Middle Earth vol 12) but couldn't find either brother in law or one of the sisters at all, so who knows. Brothers in law but not in lore? Interestingly (or perhaps not) the rightmost sister has the same name as Aragorn's grandma.

To prevent grind with Harad, try to regicide them and you will have an interesting campaign further on. For Khand use half a stack, couple of pikemen and defend within a city/castle until you deal with AA, Harad.

*SPOILERS* I hate to say this because it makes me feel old, but it has been so long since a read the books I can't remember. Isn't his heir Imrahil the guy that leads Dol Amroth in the battle of Pellenor fields. In the books the army of the dead just scares the Umbar Pirates off the boats and then leave. Then Aragorn, Legolas, Gimili, and the Grey Company(group of elf and human rangers) sail the boats and pick up Dol Amroth and other southern men not allied to Mordor and they are they surprise attack that turns the battle. I bet I got parts of that wrong but I am pretty sure Imrahil was at Pellenor Fields because I remember a passage about "there still being Heroic men left in this age" in reference him, Eomer, and Aragorn after the battle.

Journal of Professor Jaime Arnhuin of Dormoroth University Third Month of Year 2219 ME (Modern Era) I feel like I'm on to something really big here. Something that can change our entire perception of how we understand the history of our world. That long ago entire kingdoms existed that wielded powers that we cant comprehend even with are modern technology. Also that creatures, some of which can only exist in people nightmare's once traversed our world. When I brought this theory to my co-workers that laughed it off saying that I was insane. They said that I listened to much to myths and children's fairy tales and that soon I will tell them that I listen to trees talk. I will prove them wrong! I have seen stories of people finding webs much larger than anything a normal spider can make and of houses built into hilltops that have been covered under moss and grass for centuries if not much longer. I have also received a letter from an old colleague of mine who says that she has found evidence of a massive metal structure larger than even some modern skyscrapers. This might be the first piece of evidence I need to prove my theory is true. They might say that I'm just working on a stupid conspiracy but I will find out the truth even if I have to dig to the middle of this earth to do it. This just a story concept I came up when Lionheart announced this series. I will continue it for awhile if possible but I'm not an expert on LOTR so if you can think of any ways that I can improve it or details I may have gotten wrong please let me know. I hope you all enjoy and have a nice day.

On a different note Lionheart I think that in Medieval 2 rebel armies are scripted to die after they lose a battle and I don't think you can ransom the captives as the rebels have no money to pay for them I could be wrong though.
