Ah, I see. Despite the lyrics clearly mentioning the Faunus being oppressed and fighting back, there are also clear lines that simply show Adam's ego. "I'll be glorified", "I'm their hero", "I'm their savior", "I am the path to reclamation".

Yup, a few lines about how _they_ will fight, but a lot of other lines that put him in the spotlight, how _he_ will champion the truth until it's recognized, i.e, he'll keep fighting until people accept his truth... or rather, his version of the truth. Never in the song does the _Group_ get any glory, always the _Individual_ getting glory, becoming a figure of legend, someone who'll go down in history as the symbol of revolution against the oppressive _"Other"_, those who would've tried to go for peaceful coexistence branded as cowardly cattle, satisfied with receiving the tiniest scraps off of the table. So, if there are any doubts about whether Adam was really about Faunus rights, this song more or less made it clear that he was out for personal glory, to see humans, and anyone who doesn't share his views wiped out.

Man, I can’t help but, feel bad for Adam. Like yeah he did quite a lot of immoral actions and it’s unforgivable. But, he was abused, tortured, and even enslaved as a child (which the ‘all sorts of ways’ from Adam now really rubs me the wrong way good lord...) When he killed that human he felt guilt, but he also was rewarded for it. He was given validation he never really gotten as a child. That’s why he craved for more of it, and he ends up believing how he’s this grand savior of the Faunus because Sienna and the new White Fang kept encouraging and showering him with praise for it. TLDR- Tragic character, but shitty Faunus being.

This is what I mean when I say this soundtrack has some of RWBY's most colorful instrumentation. You can hear his descent into madness. At first, you hear the demented lyrics, but it's still in this 3/4 death waltz that makes him seem like a ruler witb an iron fist, not a radical lunatic. Then immediately after the first chorus it switches to 4/4, and it goes crazy. You hear the enraged guitar solo, and you get the sense that this is where he just jumps off the deep end. Then it switches to 5/4 for a quick moment on the pre-chorus, completely flipping the song as its now all about him, and how he wants his enemies to up and die. The chords used make the "Destroy them all" lines sound almost happy? Like Adam will enjoy their pain. Almost like a demented cry for help. Then at the very end of the song you hear all the instruments desync, and I think this is supposed to symbolize his death. This song sounds completely different from anything we've ever heard from Jeff or Casey, and if you think this is just another "samey" RWBY song you either don't have a very musical ear or you're just not paying attention. This song is easily top 3 on the entire soundtrack. V6 really did give Adam the best possible send-off.

Great analysis, especially with the heaviness of the song symbolising his descent into tyranny, with the quiet part at the start possibly representing him pre-joining the White Fang. Personally, I wish they'd waited a little longer for his death (always thought he should have died in the inevitable Battle of Atlas, with maybe his men turning on him after he focuses on Blake over the mission) but as long as we learn about his past, then it works.

@@ajvlogs957 still hard to believe that Neo survives flying into a horde of Grimm with only her acrobatics to defend herself. Comes out with a rip in her pants. Cinder has her aura broken, is frozen and falls from a height into a lakebed that would be enough to be a subzero stage fatal. Comes out damp and shameful. But Adam is stabbed twice and falls off a forty foot waterfall and the writers immediately confirm hes dead for good. As much as Yangs semblance coming back in that perfect Royal Guard parry after three volumes of waiting with blue balls was magnificent, it would have been better to have him at least barely survive too. It's not like characters havent survived being stabbed before. Have him come back continually getting his ass beat and getting more robo shit put on to make him less human in both mind and body till eventually Yang alone cant beat him and you need the whole team to disassemble his ass for good.

@@daysand123 I have to agree. I'm not putting my whole idea for what they should have done, but simply: he shouldn't have killed all of the WF at the start of 6 and the rest serve him out of fear. They plan to join the Battle of Atlas in V7. During, Adam gets sidetracked and focuses on Blake, letting Weiss escape. Asks one of the men (who would get development, wishes to sneak away and join Ghira) for his sword to kill Blake. Cuts Adams right arm off (symmetry) so he retaliates killing him. Adams own men gun him down.

Adam... how far you have fallen. At first his goals were noble, but as he was recognized for his strength and as he grew the White Fang, they instilled him as a leader, and his goals shifted. He broke down to the basest form, he was reduced by the pressure of that power, and as his will rose to do what he believed was right, the effects of his good intentions began to crack him, to break him, bringing him to what he became. He lacked the vision to lead, he had will, but not wisdom. The path to hell is paved with good intentions, and it applies to him more then anything. in the end, he just lost his way, and forgot his roots.

Huh....this song really shows a second perspective to Adam we never got before, we've seen him from mostly Blake's Perspective but this song (and the final fight) shows his more painful side, this song also greatly portrays his ego "I'm their Hero, I'll be lionized" and "I'm your Savior, I'll be Lionized" are fantastic examples of his more open sides, he's never hidden his arrogance before but now it's on full display with his rage. He's justified in his rage and I can't say I wouldn't be in a similar mindset but it's the original head of the white fang who gave him the ego he has, she gave him praise for his first kill, she rewarded his ruthlessness until he became a main figurehead of the organization. It kinda makes sense he'd grow to view himself as a hero.

Ironwood lost himselt to Mettle. His semblence basically shuts his brain down to only be able to focus upon the goal to a fault. Which allows him not to rest and become stronger for the goal, at the cost of all else. I would have liked Adam a lot more in the end if he hadn't completely abandoned the White Fang at the Battle of Haven, and then focused completely on his obsession with Blake. I do like how Blake and Yang teamed up to beat him, but I just wish it hadn't been at the end of him stalking Blake for so long. Basically, I feel like Shushi Princess from VGHS: "What happened to you [Adam]? You used to be my hero. You used to be the best. Then [Blake] gave you cooties, and you've sucked ever since."

It seems the song about Adam's own goals from V1-2 as he was supposed to be a somewhat anti-heroic/villainess extremist instead what he is on later seasons (including near the end of V3) as he was portrayed as whiny godwannbe, narcissistic and obsessive ex-boyfriend. This song wasn't even implied obsessing over Blake nor killing his own race for no reason in particular, he only view Blake as his student and he didn't mind her leaving from White Fang, and he had do anything for his race to make a better world while killing or hurting innocent humans. Not to mention the writers didn't even bother to give Adam a full backstory, despite him using his bad life as excuse to hurt other people, similar to Cinder's (for what I heard). And/or they didn't bother give his (supposed) interactions towards Weiss and Penny respectively, other than Blake nor Yang, even if he met and fought Sun in V4. He could have potential, but in the end, he's nothing more than a filler puppet to Bumblebee ship as a canon one to ever exist. Yep. Wasted potential, indeed.

I've got a bad feeling we haven't seen the last of him and I have a pretty dark theory to back that up. With Taurus being such a well of negative emotion (hate, rage, anger, etc.) he would've caught the attention of Salem somehow and after he helped Cinder, it's possible that Salem had plans to have him work in her "inner circle." But after he died, Salem had lost a massive asset, so would it be possible that either Salem or Cinder could "resurrect" him? Adam wouldn't be himself anymore, he would be completely consumed by rage and a hunger for vengeance, making him the perfect candidate for a next step in hybridizing organic and grimm beings, after Cinder with her grimm arm!

Extremely emotional villains are inherently harder for the audience to take seriously so Adam really needed more development/time in the oven for him to be fully realized and feared by the fan base. Despite this I still feared him, just because he’s emotionally immature doesn’t make him less dangerous, it makes him more dangerous. A child with ridiculous skill and a dummy broken semblance is terrifying.

Goes to show, hate begets hate. Adam was so traumatized and abused as a child that any desire to help his fellow faunus was overshadowed by his thirst for vengeance. Any slight, no matter how minor needed to be answered with blood. He wanted to be loved and adored without actually earning said love probably because he didn't even know how to properly attain it. He came to psychologically and mentally abuse the one person who should him love, likely emulating how he was treated by his human masters or simply not knowing any other way to keep that love for himself. He came to treat Blake like property just as he'd been treated long ago, too blind or simply incapable of recognizing he'd become just like those he hated so vehemently. He could've been the hero the faunus needed he certainly was charismatic enough to lead them but his own personal hang ups and the positive reinforcement of his violent tendencies by Sienna Khan slowly but surely warped him into a depraved monster. As the song Nevermore stated he was just "a boy who lost his way" and while that does not excuse his awful actions especially in his treatment of Blake, it does show that in the end he was still as much a victim as any other faunus in the series. In a way his story is cautionary tale. A display of how anger and hatred, even when completely justified, can warp and turn individuals into mockeries of what they once were or could've been. Any thoughts of salvation or justice gives way to more and more acts of violence and spite. The goal changes from "saving the day" to "hurting your enemies." Eventually, you forget what you were even fighting for in the first place. All virtues now shunned and forgotten. Replaced by a thirst for vengeance that can never be quenched. Till finally you die a pointless death, having achieved nothing of note or substance. Just another casualty on the long road of hate. That is ultimately the story of Adam Taurus, a man who could've been a hero but became a beast instead. In a way, death was a mercy for such broken man. I'm not saying he deserves forgiveness but his entire existence was in the end, pitiable.

This is perhaps the best analysis of Adam I've seen so far, with the perfect wordings. A person may start 'good', but ultimately, your actions can't be forgiven even if there's a reason behind. Adam led in a path that was far too astray, and become much worse than the monster than he believed humans to be and racist (anti-faunus?) humans believe faunus to be. Such ironic the life he led was.

After Monty died, many things changed in writing, so Adam was turned into an angry ex-boyfriend. He was meant to be a hero and a savior, and the first part of this song shows that really well. And as for him being a better villain... I'm not sure he was supposed to be a villain. He would, like Raven, be an anti-hero. Both Adam and Raven were threatened by her and they both tried to refuse siding with her. They forgot who Adam was meant to be and they ruined his character. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Adam was always a bad character, it's just that Monty knew how to handle characters better and by the time the crew found their way of animating and writing, it was too late. Still, Adam will always be one of the best characters in RWBY, and I hope to him again somehow, even as a flashback.

another song that fits a character...who was very mishandled. He was my favorite character long ago because he just drove a bit of mystery. Even in the black trailer he was shown as and evil guy but...the moment Blake leaves him, he seemed more disappointed than anything. From the way Blake speaks about him, he seemed like a wise man, young for his age but was pushed into that life. We see a flashback in Vol 3 between him and Cinder and even tho Adam agrees with her plans...he doesn't agree because it is in the end a human cause, a cause about destruction and domination. He only helped her because he was forced too. The line that has always stuck with me was when Blake pleas to him that all she ever wanted was peace and he yells back "What you want, is IMPOSSIBLE" To me it implied the tragedy of a man came leader that was pushed way to far due to circumstance and became a villain to some but a hero to others....then they writers decided that he was actually a evil jealous boyfriend the whole time....I don't get how rooster teeth makes a bunch of compelling and interesting characters and throw them out the window just to highlight their mediocre characters. (Adam, Raven, Qrow, IRONWOOD)

@T Allow me to elaborate further for you. You are right. He should have left them alone, and I am confused why they wrote him to be a weird stalker. He wasn't by any means a good guy, but we didn't fully understand him. He honestly seemed morally Grey until after Vol 3. They set him up to be the kind of guy who might have once been a great leader like Blake suggests in season two as HER MENTOR, never mentions he was her lover. She left him in the black trailer, and he just looked disappointed and almost broken. We never got to meet the true Adam. We never got to truly understand his point of view. They could have even made him a character to redeem. In his final moments, we get a hint of his detailed scar that was a schnee dust symbol, which kind of hints he was originally designed with better intent, but the writers got lazy.
