Cheetahs were certainly scared of this bot, when it charged them, because to them it is an animal which has no fear of them or any sign of self preservation instinct (which could probably mean it is either very dangerous and self-cofident, or sinc and crazy, both of which means it's better to stay away from it to not get hurt). Add an electric shock unit, so the robot could emit light, loud, sharp noise, smell of ozone (which is similar to the lightning for animals) and could "bite", and a pair of those could totally scare away the predators from an injured person. Add a tranquilizer dart gun, and you can safely neutralize any potential threats for the person. Also, they are, probably, made of metal (or hard plasatic), which is somewhat equal to thick bone, so pawing, clawing and biting them would have little to no effect and would totally be not plesant for the teeth, and they don't smell or taste like anything edible or killable, so I assume this which will probably also make the predators think twice before attacking it.

Maybe you don't even realize the most important thing you said in your comment. To 'scare away' a potential dangerous animal, you need a real weapon like indeed for example a pepperspray. The robot in the video will never work without a real weapon attached as the animals will get used to it extremely fast and won't be scared away anymore. You think we're privileged to see our future demise? Not me. I hate these little demon devices. Soon there will be millions of these things, with mounted machine guns and being controlled by an interconnected A.I. that sees humans as pests to be eliminated. People who think these things are cool are fools.

Best defence on that sized Robodog to aid a keeper against lions (without actually harming them) would most likely be loud high frequency speakers & an arm that quickly raises a roll of toilet paper above it!… The latter as a fail safe. 😉🤷🏻♂️😂

I had a rolling carry-on bag at the zoo once and it made the Sumatran Tiger go NUTS! The tiger stood on its hind legs while peeing all over the plexiglass barrier, it was so excited, thinking the rolling carry-on was some kind of small monkey-tidbit. How can these apex predators not miss the experience of hunting for their food?

Makes me wonder about the potential use of drones, with flashing lights and speakers to emit predator ( or prey) noises. Drones could be dispatched to any enclose very quickly. Great to see out of the box thinking on potential uses for new ( well 2 years old at this point) tech.

The military use a form of this to carry supplies on the front line, its been tested and proven to be a relatively sucessful aid, even offering portable cover for infantry. This "model" wouldn't even stand an infant apes tomfoolery, but I'm sure Boston Dynamics could sell you one of their... outdated military surplus models for precisely your needs. Edit: Oh, Unitree Robotics. The Chinese Robot dog company that's main sales pitch was a "Robot Dog Army". Personally, not robust enough for any task other than being a 15k chew toy, with a 2 hour battery life.

@davidviner57833 жыл бұрын
I doubt that the lions see your robot as a potential 'plaything'. Their behaviour is predatory. Not allowing them access to their 'prey' is frustrating for them. Frustration can lead to negative behaviour. You alarmed the cheetahs now you are messing with lions. Is there any real scientific reason for this?
