There are two critical aspects regarding Hooker's development at the QB position. These things provide Hooker an advantage. As he gains more experience: 1. The field of play will slow down in his perception. Right now the field of play is too fast for him to comprehend and react to make high quality decisions. 2. As his ability to read and interpret the field of play he will grow in his ability to read defenses to improve his decision making.

I think two more years of getting bounced in the playoffs, due to our inability to have a QB that can run the ball will grow tiresome and if Hooker makes QB 2, by that time could be QB1. There is no one on this team that can in combination pass and run as well as Hooker. Goff included.

@@ericphillipssr.4381 lol They can all they want but we all saw what happened last season. Detroit and Goff were cruising along well until, Thud. When they went up against a team whose QB can run and throw the ball. Goff gets us to the playoffs, sure, but he does not have the legs to depend on moving the ball when his passing is held in check. That's a problem and the box certainly does not need to sell out against the run if his passing is being limited. I wish JG was better at running to force them to respect it but they sell to the secondary on D and was just painfully obvious KC could beat Detroit 8 out of 10 games because of it.

@@gwhite7136 bravo! Well said! I’ve had the same debate with my fellow Lions fans. The running game carried the Lions in the championship game. Once San Fran, corralled our running backs, then dared JG to beat them with his arm, the game was a wrap. Sadly, it’s now on tape, how to neutralize the Lions offense. I don’t think people realize that JG only threw ONE touchdown in garbage time, in the championship game. If JG had just a little bit of mobility, he could’ve run for the first down on Josh Reynold’s dropped pass, on fourth-and-2.

@@ericphillipssr.4381 Well said. I don't get why it's so hard for fans to understand what we are seeing here. We can dark Mahomes to run and the man eats teams up doing this. If we can't say the same about JG, than what are we doing? Got to be able to make plays with your legs. Scramble out of the pocket if need be and hit a receiver. If our run game is checked and we don't have this QB ability to create plays with their legs, we'll keep hitting the wall against those teams that can in the playoffs. Hooker is naturally gifted at doing this.

I really don’t understand the hype around hooker. Hes a 26 year old “rookie” QB coming off an ACL tear while Goff is the franchise QB at 29. I don’t see the hype I’m sorry if hooker was 22 I’d buy in.

If you really wanna know why there’s hype for Hendon Hooker, watch Mike Martz from 33rd team, breakdown, Hendon’s film. 26 is not old in QB years, and the way surgeons repair ACL‘s now, in most cases the repaired ACL, is better than the ones we’re born with.
