Did I mention how much I love that Dan isn't all worried about injury information? Dude just tells us what he knows, good or bad. That's corporate confidence at the highest level. He doesn't waste a second worrying about what other teams might do if our guys are hurt, he just keeps us informed and expects the team to perform with whomever is on the field. It's just one of a million reasons I love this team so much.

So much love for Levi. He epitomizes everything about this team. Humble, gritty, determined and smart as hell. He and Jamo breaking out this year is EVERYTHING. Adopted these two guys who everyone wrote off as my favorite Lions this year, and the love is only growing and growing. ❤

Can someone please tell me why no one is talking about James Houston playing on Monday? Wouldn’t he be the perfect candidate to replace Davenport as an aggressive edge rusher? Am I missing something?
@JasonWilliams-lt2qlАй бұрын
Houston is hurt I’m pretty sure….
@stacydidleyАй бұрын
Houston's not injured. He fell out of grace with the head coach because he is not consistent as an edge rusher
@KingFatty11Ай бұрын
Houston does one thing well, rush the passer. The edge has more responsibilities than just rushing the passer.
@stacydidleyАй бұрын
@KingFatty11 Not true. When he was playing after his 1st year of getting 8 sacks. His production was not there at all the prior year. That's why they added Davenport to be the second edge opposite of Hutchison. No else last year was getting to the quarterback, but Aiden.
@brandonbaty2291Ай бұрын
I am not suggesting anything, but it looks an awful lot like the Buggs treatment as well. We don’t know what Houston’s attitude has been or if the team is keeping something under wraps and taking care of it in house. Or, it really could just be that he is a liability on the field outside of being strictly a pass rusher. He may not even have been showing as much as a rusher since his injury. We dont know what the staff knows. But I trust their judgement because they have proven time and again they deserve it.

Birkett demeaning fan appreciation of James Houston. He's in the doghouse with the coaches right now for some unexplained reason and they need to let him out. We're not some stupid emotional fanbase. I for one understand football, human motivation and management. While Houston will have to earn his way on the field in practice, some of these players that are on the field should also have to earn the right to stay out there. Houston, if he's nothing else, is an opportunist. If Houston gets a sliver of a chance, watch out.
@desert_sky_guyАй бұрын
I don't think he's in the doghouse, I think he's just a one-trick pony - the dude is a pass-rusher, and that's it. He is not big enough to be an early down EDGE in what the Lions want to do, and he simply doesn't play the LB spot well. That's not a knock, there are a bunch of pure pass rushers over the years who fit his mold. The reason I don't think he's in the doghouse is the fact that they kept him despite him being one of the only guys on the team who doesn't have versatility. They value what he's good at - and now that Davenport is down, I suspect we'll see him on third downs and other obvious passing downs going forward. (I hope so, at least, lol. Big time Houston fan here!)
@johnbarfield4858Ай бұрын
@@desert_sky_guy Big fan of Houston here too. I don't wish ill on anybody; but with the MASH unit we've got going on, we don't have room for DNP's. I'm saying he was healthy at the end of last season, he's more than healthy now. Let's see what we've got rather than leaving him out there. Not to mention that he's had a whole off-season and a month in-season working with Coach Williams. He may not be the SAM LineBacker the coaches dreamed of, but he's still a problem on that edge. Give him the chance to show what he's got. Right now, we really don't know. And I am getting sick of how some of these podcasters use him and Jamo as clickbait. Jamo got his chance and shut some guys up. I'd like to see Houston shut some of these guys up too.
@thomaswatkins3686Ай бұрын
I don’t think fans really get the scheme. Love Hutchinson as you mught, he’s a 43 LDE. Thats all he will ever be. His job is rushing the passer. When he is most effective he will be playing with a natural 43 RDE across from him. Thats a guy in the 270 range who can roll the interior his way. It’s why they drafted Paschal and signed Davenport. The thing is they seldom deploy a JACK (Houston) because they play a ton of 425. In this way, Houston’s value is exceedingly limited. Like they need to run a subpackage to get him on the field. Houston would be valuable to a 34 LB room. The problem is Hutchinson doesn’t fit the 34. And you need to decided if you want one type of rusher or another. I said the day they fired Dom Capers the defense was trying to get back to the dated days of Schwartz and co. Houston truly is a niche player at this point. Unless the idea is to come away from Hutchinson, you can expect Houston to have a very limited role.
