Lip filler migration can happen for a number of reasons. Here we will explain some of those reasons and preventative techniques.
1. Poor Product Choice - When choosing a dermal filler product for the lips it is important that we choose a product with enough elasticity and cohesivity to give us predictable, natural outcomes both immediately after injecting and in the weeks and months following treatment.
2. Poor Injecting Technique - when injecting the lips it is vital to be knowledgable and respectful of the patient's natural anatomy. There are a number of techniques that will improve outcomes and give a much more controlled and desirable outcome.
3. Too Much Product - when injecting the lips we must be considerate of individual anatomy and lip size. Everyone will have a maximum natural capacity in their lips and to exceed this will increase pressure in the lips forcing the product into other areas. Just because a patient asks for 1ml doesn't necessarily mean that 1ml is good/safe treatment option.
To give the most beautiful results we must consider all three of these points and make a tailored, individual plan to achieve the perfect lip augmentation.
Enhance your lip filler technique on our Lip Filler Masterclass. The aim of the lip masterclass course is to develop and build on the learning from the foundation dermal filler course. This course is open to nurses, midwives, doctors, dentists and pharmacists (prescribing and non-prescribing) who have already completed a foundation course.
