That's cock all. When I renovated my house I had 100m2 of 100mm screed put down. By hand. The bloke doing it had a Chinese Welshman doing the mixing and barrowing and he smoothed it. The Chinese bloke started up the cement mixer at 0700 and then proceeded to mix 17 tonnes of cement between 0700 and 1500 including wheelbarrowing it into my house. It was like watching the human version of a meerkat dig a burrow. He threw the sand into the mixer faster than I could follow. The plasterer I had on site had to stop and stare in wonder. I've never seen anyone work like it. He was built like a racing snake.

I’ve used this liquid screed, had it poured in the morning by 3 in the afternoon the customer called me to say the new ceiling had collapsed on to the floor. 38m2 of plasterboard in the wet screed, it had fallen in one pice, you can imagine the mess. The rep came out from the plasterboard company and agreed to pay to replace the ceiling and make good the floor. It was March so the conditions were damp outside, but something to be aware of. There’s a lot of moisture involved and a lot of plaster boards are being made from reclaimed boards.

Just had my boys house done with Gyvlon liquid screed 90sqm @70mm deep 2 hrs, we had to scrap our one 48hrs later but it certainly is top draw. Thanks Rodger for a very informative video.

I always try and do a straight 100mm concrete slab if site requirements allow it. No screeding ball ache required.

Is it possible that after pouring when the screed settles it pushes the insulation and damp proof membrane down to the subfloor and it makes a 40mm difference? Our builder is telling us this. We need to do another round of pouring to compensate for the 40mm.

What is the minimum liquid screed you can pour on 16mm castellated panels ? Obviously you need to pour 16mm to get to the top of the pipes, but how much can you get away with after that ? Abit restricted with floor build up

Roger I have used a flow screed in an extension and used mlcp pipe to radiators that are lagged for expansion etc. Loads of advice is available for underfloor heating is there any advice you can give when I can switch the radiators on? I didn't want to shock the floor. Thanks.

Give the floor seven days to cure and then turn on the heating gently. You have lagged pipes so there will be no problem

We always use Gyvlon FD. Will go down to 30mm unbonded no cracking. Doesn't need reinforcing. Quick drying No laitance. No brainer.

I am not a huge fan of anhydrite, it turns to mush if there is a plumbing leak and it is bloody tricky to tile on, most tilers hate it. That said I have it in my kitchen and it is fine, I just prefer the cement based stuff to gypsum. Anhydrite feels like plastering the floor.

@@SkillBuilder if you want th keep the site running gyvlon fd is spot on. Tileable in a mater of days with the correct adhesive. No laitance to sand off, quick coat of primer and away you go. Get a better plumber if you've got plumbing leaks😂😂

UV doesnt go thru glass. Not much anyway. IR does. The IR will heat the floor not the UV.

Only UVB rays, the primary sunburn ray, are largely blocked by glass; but more than 50 percent of UVA rays, the main cause of premature skin aging and skin cancer, can penetrate glass. In regard to IR, infrared rays can pass through glass. That's why, greenhouses are constructed with glass. They enter inside with sunlight, absorbed inside to get converted into heat and then gets trapped inside resulting in heating of the enclosure.

You can, you could do it with the laser at any level and a stick.

@@rutgerhoutdijk3547 it’s pretty easy, mark on a stick where the laser level needs to be and then you can place the stick on top of the disc and move from there. There’s a few ways of doing it, including setting the laser level itself at the right height and just matching the discs to it (I’ve got one that starts at 8mm from the floor)

Used the anhydrite screed before, good results but have to do your research. Make sure your flooring guys know what they are doing. What are the drawbacks of this cement screed?

As far as I can tell there are no drawbacks. We have to wait for it to dry, key it up, latex if required and we’re good to go with our floor covering.

Yes I had a few pals that built their houses and used liquid screed, the screed guys did not make it clear that the floor had to be sanded back down and the tiles popped on all 4 houses, one of my mates had £10k worth of tiles down that pooped and and to clean up n start over. Another pal who’s a tiler got a reinstatement job was retiling 100 apartments in London where the tile popped. I had just had the liquid screed floor laid on 2700sqft and my mate called me to ask if I had tiled my floor and if so don’t until I sanded it back, anyways I got paranoid and had a floating floor laid 😂 Since then I went back to traditional screed flooring as was a complete headache lol

Hi Peter I think the comments about drying may have mislead you. There are no lost days with this screed and it can have additives to make it even faster. The initial walk on time is no different to a troweled down screed. The drying time of 1 day per millimeter applies to traditional trowelled screeds so this product doesn't mean you are wating around before you can put down floor coverings. The conversation about forced drying applies to all screeds and was general guidance. All drying times are variable according to conditions. The advantage of this screed is labour saving, stronger, flatter and much better with underfoor heating because the contact on the pipe is almost total. Many housebuilders use flow screed and it will become more and more common.

@@petemoring67 There is something very refreshing about walking in there on Monday morning to a nice flat, firm, dust free floor that feels like a finished floor. It is great to work on. I was concerned that all that moisture would affect the plastered ceilings and walls but it was fine. I still don't understand how all that liquid is absorbed in the mix with no shrinkage.
