Miracle Gro should send you a pallet of the stuff since you probably boosted the sales of this particular product. If there is only a few spots you can add some to a watering can and just pour on area.

Does it green up the lawn and make bermuda spread well? I bought Scotts Natural fertilizer but thought of using this first since it has 35 N to boost it.

It’s a pretty old video Greg. The best way to see some results in vids I do is to follow me on Instagram also. There are some videos that I don’t post results on KZbin because it’s not a direct focus of that product. BYD can you put the Miricale Grow down after you fertilizer your lawn? Or do you have to wait a certain period of time.

Ronald Owens I’ve done that before, didn’t affect my lawn because it’s all water soluble, but I’d wait a couple of weeks between apps.

@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral
@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral 4 жыл бұрын
Ronald Owens my suggestion is to stay patient and mow often. When you get impatient you’ll start over applying chems to force a unnatural growth, which could lead to more lawn damAge. You’ll start seeing a change soon but stay on schedule. 👍🏾

Hey BYD! I’m noticing that my Burmudagrass is matted down in some areas and turning brown. Should I rake and aerate or just call it a loss, dig it up, and re fert?

Never give 🆙 but consider what’s causing it first. Too much shade, lack of fertilization, too much water retention, figure out what’s causing it then attack it with the fix.

I just applied Scott’s summer lawn food on my whole lawn . Can I still do this now on the weak spots or should I wait a couple of weeks ? Also is it ok to do it in the summer ? I have Zoysia grass and were expecting some rain next week . I live in Texas BTW
@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral
@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral 5 жыл бұрын
+Wasim Bizra I’ll be honest with you, I’ve never done that to a Zoysia lawn, the reason I’m not so concerned about mine is because the guys at UGA said it was ok to do so in the soil test I did last season. Zoysia generally does not require as much fert as Bermudagrass though.

Ok I guess best way to know is by doing a soil test to figure out why these spots are so weak. Thanks for the advice

During this time of the summer, late July the Bermuda has been heat stressed and I never use any liquid sprays. What I apply to my hybrid Bermuda sod is put down a slow release 15-0-15 (+2% iron) granules. I lucked out and had a 30 min medium shower after I spread it. Then the next day I applied a 40-0-0 Urea slow release and once again, lucked up with a moderate shower 3 hours later for 30 mins or so. In about 4 days the stressed areas as well as the other parts were dark green like the sod looked throughout June. I use different ratio fertilizers depending on summer conditions here in central Bama. It's like a chef having to spice up the recipe to cater to the guests. I cut every 3-4 days keeping the 1/3rd of the grass tips to be cut only. I use a Exmark 30" dual blade mower. It does a fantastic job. I don't mulch the sod so no worries of the thatch monster happening. I cut the sod in different directions every 3-4 days as well. Very important. Good luck with the spot spraying which will leave darker green spots all over the lawn which doesn't do much for curb appeal. I recommend to just treat the whole lawn with a slow release granular instead. The other parts you didn't spray will be hollering for nitrogen and potash as well once these sprayed spots wake up. Then you'll be back out there chasing more lackluster spots again. It's too damn hot and humid out there now for all that added workload. JMO.

WYATT TERRY does that keep your hybrid greener
@unclesnappy6541
@unclesnappy6541 6 жыл бұрын
It does. I did a test this year waiting for the time when the late May early June regime of a slow release 40-0-0 Urea was applied and that did awesome through June and into mid July. The temps in July - Aug are always much hotter here and have less than average afternoon thunderstorms. It's some of our regions driest months. I have a in-ground sprinkler system and only water a couple times a week for 30 mins during the early morning before sunrise while the dew is still wet on the grass. 1 inch of water per week should do the trick. You may need way more if in a drought stricken area. This regime of watering will only go so far once the fertilizer is about to be exhausted causing a lighter green color and the base of the grass feeders are looking brownish from heat stress, lack of nutrients or possibly dehydration from the nitrogen put down. As mentioned, I supplement Southern Lawns company regime with some of my own applications either days before or after their application. Always remember, too much nitrogen can cause burn spots and most confuse this with a disease or grubs. Do the grub test by trying to pull the sod at the bad spots to see if it all pulls up. If not, it's most likely nitrogen burn OR maybe a fungus. The burn can make your lawn look like it has irregular burn shaped patterns. Wetter than normal rain events followed by cloudy days can also lead to a fungus. I use fast release and slow release Urea and also a non Urea slow release such as a 15-0-15+2% iron from my local co-op. I get all my lawn food from them. I stopped the big box store fertilizer buying because it was way too expensive and I wasn't getting the extended results I was looking for. That stuff again is more for the home owner who mows once a week and isn't really that serious with their lawn. A round of potash like what's in the 15-0-15+2 helped rejuvenate the lower part of the stems of the hybrid Bermuda. If ever in doubt, always do a soil test prior to putting anything down for accuracy. Some times the PH may be out of whack and it may need a lime application to get it back to stable conditions. All yards are different of course so treating your yard may be totally different than your neighbors lawns. Cutting only the top 1/3rd of the grass blade is crucial so as not to cut all the green out of the lawn. Every 3-4 days is my routine and I tend to increase the grass length in the dog days of mid July and throughout August here in the deep South. I never let the length get past 3 inches. I always bag my clippings so I stay away from the thatch issues blocking air and water to the soil. I'd rather spend smaller amounts of money on fertilizer/nutrients than fight thatch issues. The finished cut looks so much better than the mulch cut any day. The co-op's prices are half the price or more than buying a brand like Scott's at Lowes etc and paying 50 bucks for 40 pounds and it only seems to feed for about 4 weeks. I pay 22 bucks for a 46-0-0 Urea and 12 bucks for a 15-0-15+2 for 50 lb bags and lasts darn near 8 weeks. That answer is pretty obvious which way I go. Milorganite doesn't work on my lawn or on red clay soil and I've tried it with zero results. I might try some of the high dollar product called Podium next season that promotes horizontal growth instead of a fast vertical growth. It's said, it keeps the grass greener at shorter heights and cutting is slowed down as well. It's not cheap by any means and is a liquid you spray about every month. It doesn't take that much Podium per gallon of water and comes in gallon sized jugs. One could always do their fertilizer regime and supplement the summer stress lighter grass color with a lawn dye that may last a month or so. It won't kill your lawn if applied correctly the same as like anything else you put out on your lawn. Shade trees play another role in your grass being starved for nutrients as well. They compete with each other so keep that in mind when you see it less green all around the trees drip line. Grass needs a required amount of direct sun and nutrients for photosynthesis to occur in shaded areas. So, you see there is more to a award winning Bermuda sod lawn than throwing down fertilizer, watering and only mowing once a week like the normal homeowner does. If you want it to look like a million bucks, you better be ready to have it taken care of it like a million bucks without spending a million bucks to keep it that way. I see more and more of my neighbors cutting their lawns in different directions (very important) like I do BUT, not every 3-4 days and they have been scrambling to catch up especially since the "beautification award" sign from my city's beautification committee was placed in my yard. It's awarded for more than just a pretty deep green lawn though. If my neighbors utilize a lawn company to maintain/mow their yards but not the homeowner, they can forget about the award being in their yard. Curb appeal is tops when you look at resale value or value increase as well. Always remember, soil tests are the best accurate way you can find out really what regime your yard calls for and then implement it and be patient for the results. Grass demands change from how the soil, watering regime, cutting intervals, bagging or mulching, direct sunlight exposure time, and competing "other plant life" in the yard throughout their seasonal growing timeline. Excuse the book length response but, Knowledge is Power" so, providing others with some easy to interpret education from other lawn maintenance award winning homeowners may add the "know how" to have the dominate yard in your HOA or neighborhood. Good luck!

Seems like the most important thing you do here is mow mow mow...if I had the time I would do the same, but about 20k sqft of lawn and no ride or zero turn make that difficult! What do you mean by co-op? Is that like Site One? Or garden store to get Fert? Ty
