В советские времена делали такой кллей, брали шарики от пинпонга или неволяшки. Но недавно у меня кончились запасы ацетона и я купил того де производителя, дзержинский, но он даже пористый полистирол не размягчает, только краску разбавляет. А еще хорошо клеит дихлоритан.

I often end up doing both. This stuff will keep a long time if kept sealed in airtight jar. Add a little more acetone occasionally to keep it gooey and I plastic weld, then reinforce it with this.

No, this is a different kind of plastic, you will not liquefy it with acetone. You need to take the plastic which has the abbreviation "ABS" on it. ABS type of plastic can be liquefied with acetone. You can try also Lego parts - I have a video about that on my channel

Polystyrene. It will sometimes bond with other plastics but if it's saturated with enough acetone it grabs onto polystyrene really well. Too much acetone though and it'll stick to your fingers. (I've never put it in a plunger before)

@@igotstoknow2 it doesn't last as long and depending on what you're fixing, doesn't bond as well for usable repair. JB Weld absolutely has its uses, so does this method, and they both have limitations as well. This is simply an alternative method for times when it works better than other fixes.

Epoxy would have done just as well if not better, it's likely faster, and it's super cheap. I don't think I have ever had acetone in the house, but I do have epoxy.

You need to use ABS type of plastic, it can be liquefied with acetone. Try Lego bricks, for example, if you have them

You're wrong. Hot glue fails 90% of the time almost immediately, ESPECIALLY when it's cold. This literally takes so little effort and it's super effective. If you want to stick to hot glue, great but the idea here is solid. I do all kinds of creative things with this stuff. I also add Styrofoam to it sometimes for craft projects and to stick better to certain plastics.

Thank you for your comment. I decided to repair the shelf just to save time and money. The refrigerator is quite old, so I doubt that I will find such shelf easily

Not everyone can get such a shelf in his own country, such repair can be a good option!
