Thanks for sharing this. I took this train 4 or 5 times between Ronkonkoma and Penn Station and, for those who misses NYC, this kind of stuff really make us go back in time.

I'm surprised the North Shore line still has so many street crossings. I grew up in Merrick in the '70s and can remember the big construction project replacing the street-level tracks on the South Shore line in Nassau with elevated tracks.

This is a trip I took many times back in the late '40s and '50s (as far as Northport, anyway). East of Jamaica, we were behind steam until later in the '50s.

Trains can terminate practically anywhere on the line,such as Babylon trains terminating at Massapequa Park

I live down by Philly. Sometime in the next year I'm going to buy a 14 zone weekly pass for what is it $119. I'm going to spend 3-6 whole days riding the LIRR from Penn Station to every other station in the whole system on multiple occasions.
