Thanks for these comparisons; you're so right, seeing them side-by-side on the lips is so much more helpful. I also enjoy that you put the website photos next to the lip swatches. It is wild how different they are, even accounting to differences in display configurations, lighting, etc. After having bought a few lip colours that look nothing like the website images, I've come to completely ignore her product photos. They are so far off. Anyway, I'm really fair-skinned, so everything looks much darker on me. And Enchantment looks straight up pink, not red at all, on me. I think it's fair that you spent a bit of time talking about the breakage. It's not a one-off, it's clearly a problem with this line (I've seen so many comments about it over the years). I know Lisa has said it's because of the saturation of the pigments, so it must be a trade off between colour intensity and structural integrity, but I feel like if it was any other brand people wouldn't forgive it so easily. These are not inexpensive products. I know what you mean when you say you'd feel weird about asking customer service for a replacement of an older product, but if the breakage makes it difficult for you to use and get value out of a product for which you've paid good money, then why not. I would add up the cost of all the lipsticks that have broken with little to no use and see if you're cool with that. Don't forget that the actual cost of the product for them is doubtless a lot less than the retail price you've paid, so you're not going to be bankrupting them if they send you a few replacements. Finally, a suggestion for the hand swatches: It would be easier for the viewer to get the most out of the comparisons if you did a vertical stripe of the main lipstick you are discussing, then horizontal ones perpendicular to it for the comparisons. Sorry for the essay, and thanks for your videos. I hope you get more subscribers and eventually do get paid for this!

This video is very valuable. No other KZbinr does comparison on the lips. You’re right, on the hand they look so different. Regarding the breaking 💄, I feel lucky that none of my lipsticks have broken. I have been able to finish some of them but as I said, none have broken (knock on wood 🤞)

They are very similar, enchantment is more red leaning but rain is more rosewood on me :)

Always love your LE reviews Aijing. They are so detailed and organized. It's also super helpful cause you are right, they photos on the website are so far off in real life. Really appreciate this. Love your review of the eyeshadow palettes too ^_^ Btw, I have some velvets break on me too. I asked them about the best way to store them to avoid it and they were so nice in replacing it even tho I told them I bought them more than 6 months ago already. I have another one broke again. But I too feel uncomfortable telling them about it again and them sending a replacement. I just hope they fix it in the future cause it doesn't feel nice to apply lipstick with a wobbly bullet. I also get OCD to see all the smudges inside the lipstick case :/ Lastly, I wonder how Strawberry Shock will compare with Velvet Enchantment.

Jazz is a hint more brown and grounded, Duchess is more clear in color and cooler. Idk maybe my eye is sensitive to color, plus I'm really getting into color theory and a bit into seasonal palettes. Jazz looks more Autumn, Duchess more Winter. Maybe this will help someone who's stuck, along with the video swatches.

I’ve never had lipsticks break no matter how old they are. This is a luxury brand and it shouldn’t break no matter what. I would contact them and get new ones. You’ve invested a ton of money into her lipsticks and should totally get free replacements.

They actually do replace old lipsticks! My 2-3 year old Velvet Ribbon broke and they replaced it immediately, they will only ask for your order number/email. Top-notch customer service!

Great videos! Have you contacted CS about the broken lipstick, they have great CS. A few people I know had issues and they just sent a replacement without hesitation.

More and more of my velvets break. Some REALLY early on, from just swiping on my lips/hand the first time, others from getting too warm (inside my jeans pocket) and fragile. Haven't asked for new ones, because it keeps happening to new purchases. Also not experiencing all of the staying power that some people praise. It stays on (outer) dryer lip areas, but disappears on (inner) softer and more hydrated parts during the day and DO NOT stick after bein re-applied to those latter areas.

The breakage is such a pain. In terms of staying power, they definitely start wearing off in the inner parts first but I really do find them to be quite long-lasting! Everyone’s lips are different too though I guess, just like skin!

I used tan-tastic! o!mega bronze. It’s such a good bronzer, but I don’t know if Marc Jacobs beauty is coming back and whether the formula and shade will be the same if they do come back ☹️ So I think you can definitely have both but go by your own needs and budget, no point in wasting money for sure! So I would just think about which formula you think you’d prefer (rose official being the lucent lip colour formula, shiny and more balmy), and in terms of colour, the two are definitely very very similar. Rain blotted on with a balm on top is almost identical BUT it is brighter in tone, I feel it lifts the skin more. Rose official is more of a muted mauve pink which makes it more wearable for everyday. I love both and don’t regret having both ❤️

For my powder bronzer, I still trust the oldie but goodie chocolate soleil from Too Faced. I just asked to know if we have the same shade, I knew they only came out with a few shades. And I will think about start using it! It def sounds like you really like it From LE, do you think it has sense to buy rose official and rain? I mean, except for the different formula/finish.. About breaking…same thing has happened to me recently: i’d bought a back up of the carnival colour a few months ago. Had never opened it until 2 wks ago n on the second application it broke at the very bottom 😣😣 n like u’ve said i do not open it much for application or push hard; so 1. Its really difficult to use and 2. Since its so unstable, its being damaged quickly n will last for a very short period of time. It’s the first time its happening n have many from her collection…still, its really a bummer ehh

I'd be so disappointed if I bought these lipsticks solely based on the photos on her website, they just look so different and much deeper and richer on the models!! :(( I'm not sure if you have ring lights on or just natural lights, but are these lippies darker irl then on video? I mean that I find that I watch her videos and see the colour on her lips, then I put it on my lips and the shade appears darker on my lips. E.g. velvet fawn, looks light a light nude on her but looks more like a medium tone nude on me. Does that make sense? The shade pompadour is nothing like the website for sure. I do think the shades has more brightness and 'life' (don't know if that makes sense) IRL. The website pictures make them look more muted somehow and a touch darker IMO. I sit in front of the window and has two light boxes each side to brighten more on dark days. Would it help if I took some photos of the new colours on my phone unedited in front of the window and in the shadow and put it on the community tab? :)

carnival and new wave would be wildly different to pomp. Carnival is more neon than skyscraper rose, and skyscraper rose is already brighter than pompadour. New wave is a bright purple, which is also v different :)

I’m putting any broken into an Amazon sample plastic container with lid and apply with a disposable wand. Mine are older too so I won’t ask for replacements. Have you purchased all the lip liners?

I find the majority of the lip colours on the website, and in Lisa's videos, look so different in real life. I've wasted loads of money as a result because some of them just look terrible on me. I am very pale, but I think it's your skin undertone that makes the difference with her lipsticks. I took a chance on Cinnabar just for the hell of it, and it's incredibly dark on me, but still really easy for me to wear, but it looks awful on my sister and she's just only one foundation shade darker. That also shows why hand swatches don't work! 🙂

I bought Pompadour based on the beautiful photo on the LE site and it is so bright pink in person. 😮 I’m far too old to pull it off - so disappointed. I’m debating Muse because it’s supposed to be perfect for any age and she seems to put it on all her older models on her video…

Oh no! That one is particularly misleading… muse is muted and more rosewood for sure. There are probably thousands of lip swatch videos on YT and Google, you can almost certainly find someone in your skin tone so give them a watch before you buy :)

I recently purchased Je Ne Sais Quoi and honestly, I think the photos online and the actual products just don't seem to be a true representation. And after watching your swatching review, most of the online photos just didn't seem to correspond with what was on your lips. I like Je Ne Sais Quoi, but it is too dark on me, so I just use a light layer.

Hi I have several of her formula since her first launch as well and thankfully for me known of mine broke. You should not be surprised for not getting a response but just a like on her comment section. You can't expect her to reply to you in KZbin or Intagram section where there are so many random comment. You should directly contact her team on IG about the issues your facing. They tend to reply back pretty quickly, plus you can send them pictures easily of all your lipsticks that broke as well as this video.
