The decision to have cole sprouse not talk for the entirety of the movie was a godsend.
@lauracerqueiramachado89797 ай бұрын
Yes… and no, I think because he didn’t talk they missed the opportunity to develop his relationship with Lisa in some moments, like when she talks about how much she misses her mother they could have bonded over the fact that he was pretty much the only person who knew exactly how she felt like because he lost his parents when he was little, I also would have liked to see some jokes about how he is a guy from the 1800’s in the 1980’s and he didn’t understand modern stuff that well yet, like Barnabas from “Dark Shadows”, but we didn’t get to see that the closest we got was that joke that he used to ride an old-fashioned bike. However if they make it a sequel (and they most likely will) I hope we get to see his character talking more like in the “Frankenstein” novel, the thing is in the movie from 1931 the creature couldn’t talk, but in the book he not only could talk but he would never shut up, he was always talking about his thoughts about life

It’s heavily implied Cole Sprouse’s character is Victor Frankenstein from Mary Shelley’s novel, but in this reality or version he is “the creature”, his tombstone was damaged but we could read “tein” by the end of it, his first life was around the time when Mary Shelley’s novel was being written, and that’s why the name of the movie is “Lisa Frankenstein” despite the protagonist’s name in the beginning being Lisa Swallows, because after they made love they began to consider themselves married and when she came back from the dead the same way he did she started using his surname so they can spend their new lives together

@@hufflepuffsbadger6665 "Makes it all about her and her tragedy" Yeah, and oftentimes (not saying this is the case with your mom specifically, because I don't know you or your family, obviously 😅), these same types of people turn out to have had a mostly decent or even privileged upbringing, sometimes better than what their own kids have even, but while they dismiss their own children's complaints and call them "soft" for being upset, they talk about their own childhood in a way that makes it sound so much worse than it actually was, when what they're saying is just normal stuff, but their tone and the way they tell it makes it sound like they survived a war. Maybe they have some trauma, sure, but they want the attention and a ton of sympathy and people saying, "Oh my gosh! Your life was so hard! How did you survive? You're so strong and tough for going through that. Respect." So they make what they did sound worse than it actually was. Ironically, these parents publicly make a big show about their own lives while calling anyone else (especially their own kids) "soft" or "ungrateful" for expressing discomfort about their own trauma in their lives, regardless of who actually had it "worse". 😭 It's not just parents though. Anyone who does this in general is irritating as hell, and they never show sympathy and match the same energy as those who give the attention they want anyway.

I swear, the whole time I was watching the movie I was just waiting for the reveal that LIsa's dad was the ax murder who killed Lisa's mom. The fact that he moved on so quickly seemed like a huge red flag to me. Maybe if he and Janet had just started dating after six months it would be less suspicious, but it's the fact that they got engaged and married so quickly after meeting that seemed off to me. Even when Taffy is telling the story her voice when she says that "they got engaged and married real quick" shows that she thought it was odd/surprising how fast it happened. I was 100% anticipating that Lisa's dad actually knew Janet while he was still married and killed Lisa's mom to be with her, waiting until a few months afterward to get together to seem less suspicious. Looking at the clip of the murder now, it does seem pretty evident the murderer is a different person. The murderer is clearly taller and slimmer than Lisa's dad with much fuller head of hair. However, I wouldn't surprised if Lisa's dad being the murderer being was an idea that was tossed around when developing the script. As things stand, I'm actually glad that wasn't the case. Taffy is such a sweetheart and it would be way to tragic if her only remaining family member was an ax murderer.😅

Actually Taffy did kinda explain why her mom and Lisa's dad got married quickly so him and Lisa could move on and have a new mom and sister. Imo I think that's a good excuse and it makes sense. I loved it sooo much, *it was all over the place in a good way* It almost spoke to me about Lisa's personality, how she had trouble being seen and heard while giving those sort of out casted like myself a chance in the spotlight. I've never seen a movie quite like it, that's what makes it so special. 100/10

This movie has so many details if you really analyze it!! ex: the body parts that hurt her are the body parts they steal for the creature. My personal favourite is the importance of the axe, her mother was killed by an axe but the creature uses the axe to avenge and help lisa (thats a very, very dumbed down explanation to the actual importance but i don’t feel like writing a paragraph about it)

People have described this movie as a future cult classic but due to the nature of streaming and the decline of physical media to encourage sales ( which is how cult classics formed in the past) i'm hoping this movie will get a second life on streaming. ( zombie reference.) I don't think people will be buying the blue rays for this movie which is how it would have become a cult classic years ago but now it's being shoved onto streaming services. IM OBSESSED WITH THIS MOVIE i hope your video will get more people to see it, and bring up it's streaming numbers since it didn't do the absolute best in theatres.

I first watched this on an international flight. I was bored and couldn't find anything new that looked interesting until I saw the poster. I absolutely loved it. It captures a lot of the insanity and off the wall scenarios and characters I grew up with in the late 80s and early 90s... you know... peak Burton. The story was very simple and never took itself serious. I loved it.

I'm not sure if you read these comments, but you should review the movie Electric Dreams! Its an obscure 80s romcom about a computer gaining sentience and getting into a love triangle with two humans! It definitely seems like the kind of "so bad its good" movie with a ridiculous plot that you seem to review. Plus its free to watch on KZbin, has a small but thriving online community that is dying for someone to make a video about it, and may be getting a reboot soon. Its definitely worth a watch.

@pintsizedpicasso34027 ай бұрын
Seriously, Taffy was an even better family member to Lisa than her own dad. Taffy must have taken after her father because one of the biggest mysteries of the movie is how a sweetheart like her came from Janet.😂
@kamsismith7 ай бұрын
This is Liza Soberano’s American debut as she's more well-known in the Philippines.
@lauracerqueiramachado89797 ай бұрын
idk, Taffy seemed very unlikable and insensitive to me in some parts, like when she told her friends what happened to Lisa´s mom even though she promised her she wouldn´t tell anyone which led to their classmates spreading a rumor that Lisa was the one who did it, and she seemed to think Lisa´s trauma of losing her mother was instantly solved when her father got married again because she had a "new mom", , I was almost feeling bad for her when she was worried about her mom being missing until she said "you don´t know how scary this is, Lisa! You don´t have to worry about anything because your mom has already been murdered!", and she dated Michael behind Lisa´s back and she didn´t even know who he was until Lisa told her she liked him, I mean if she really liked him then she should have told Lisa he was into her so she wouldn´t get high hopes and then ask her if it was of if she dated him, that´s what a good friend would do
@darkestnights775 ай бұрын
@@lauracerqueiramachado8979 agreed, she sucked. Yeah she was the "kindest" out of all the characters aside from the creature, but I did not feel sorry for her at all when she got traumatized. Punched a hole in her precious little life.
