I was in Dublin for a semester.. when i arrived, rainy weather and cold winter.. Just broke with my girlfriend.. I will always remember this fourty years old irish man, in a youth hostel, who told me "If you're missin' home, listen to it".. i'm still listening 5 years later..

Her voice sounds like what having the love of someone for whom one's heart beats and then, forever, losing that love. It is pain and beauty and meaning, combined together in a song that reaches the deepest parts of one's soul.

My first dog loved it whenever I sang this to him. I always had this feeling that whenever I started singing this, he would look at me like I’m the only thing in the world, the only thing he loved. I wish cancer never existed, I wish he could’ve stayed longer, I wish he would’ve grown up with me much longer. Now here I sit, my face damp with a small Shepard pup on my lap, wondering if Harley will ever forgive me... I love you baby boy. May the stars shine bright around you. R.I.P.

The version of Home on "Passenger" is beautiful, but this version is even better. True, the recording quality is necessarily not quite as smooth, but the simpler mournful arrangement lets Lisa Hannigan's voice stand out, and she performs with a soaring spontaneity that catches the listener's full attention, at least mine. I can almost smell the wood smoke. I long for her to tour again so I can hear her live.
