Someone needs to bring this kind of music back. I loved the orchestral pop of this era. So many of the best songs used strings and pianos and woodwinds. It was an incredible period for music.

So much of that "sound" diminished with the loss of orchestration, esp. strings.

It was '89-'94. A lot of songs with that type of melody. It was amazing. I wish it had lasted forever but it didn't. I'll never forget in '89 I first heard it off of Soul to Soul. Their smash hit "back to life". I'll never forget how modern it sounded when I first heard it. And still to this day I get that sensation like no other. An amazing time. Maxi Priest "Close to You" was another one.

Christmas 1989 I left my 5 month old son with my parents to finish law school. I was miserable without him and I decided to fly home to get him before the end of the term in February 1990. When I got there my Mom showed me videos my Dad took while he was there. This song was playing in the background on one while he was taking his first steps in his walker. Every time I hear it, I am transported back to that time! Forever one of my favorite songs! I’m here in May 2024 and still loving it!

This song hits differently now. Every time I listen to it. It reminds me of Tony Hughes. He just wanted love and acceptance. It really breaks my heart. He was such a good person. He didn't deserve it, and the other victims too. :(( Rest in peace to all the victims. Fly high angels. 🙏

I can picture why this song fits so well with everything... But the song that makes me think of Tony is "it takes two". The one that is playing when they 2 met at the bar.

That scene from Dahmer took me right back to my early childhood in the 90s. The clothes, the music, the atmosphere of them going out. The first show I have seen in a long time that just nailed the atmosphere of the period in question perfectly. All the others just make it a bit too colorful and flashy (especially the 80s, but this I don't remember).

Lyrics: I don’t know where my baby is But I’ll find him, somewhere, somehow I gotta let him know how much I care I’ll never give up looking for my baby Chorus: Been around the world and I-I-I I can’t find my baby I don’t know when I don’t know why Why he’s gone away And I don’t know where he can be My baby But I’m gonna find him We had a quarrel And I let myself go I said so many things, things he didn’t know And I was oh oh so bad I don’t think he’s coming back He gave the reasons, the reasons he should go And he said things he hadn’t said before And he was oh oh so mad And I dont think he’s coming back Coming back I did too much lying Wasted too much time Now I’m here and crying, I-I-I Chorus (look at the top for the words) So open hearted, he never did me wrong I was the one, the weakest one of all And I’m oh oh so sad I don’t think he’s coming back Coming back I did too much lying Wasted too much time Now I’m here and crying, I-I-I Chorus x2 (look at the top for the words) I’m going to find him, my ba-ba-ba-ba-baby I did too much lying Wasted too much time Now I’m here and crying I-I-I Chorus (look at the top for the words) I’ve been around the word Looking for my baby Been around the world And I’m gonna, I’m gonna fi-i-i-ind him Disclaimer: I do not claim this as accurate, I am giving my best attempt at posting the lyrics for the song.
