Yeahhh... REALLY not a fan of Five's character in this mod. In Hopeful she was written as a desperate and likely traumatized scavenger who had to rely on stealth and fighting dirty to survive, with the knowledge that probably the most dangerous and reviled gang in all of Olathe was hunting her down. The only time we see her fight is in the Cyclops ending, and she only wins due to his severe injuries fighting Hart prior (though I still do prefer AlterReaper's version where he mercs her on accident, if only for how much darker it makes the ending). Of course she's disgusted at the thought of roving gangs of men mauling eachother to bits just to get some action, but she was perfectly capable of showing compassion, as seen in the Beltboy ending when she realizes what was motivating him. This mod throws that characterization out the window in favor of this edgy, unstoppable girlboss persona, with a copious amount of plot armour to boot. How exactly was she able to overpower and defeat THREE trained, hardass men with only her fists? And then the Hart fight... yeesh. The intro was raw as fuck (the only part I liked, Fatal Chomping Hart's hotdog is something Hopeful Five would probably do), but here's a question: why didn't Hart mutate? And why was she exempt from Hart's final attack in the other endings? If anything, I'd expect mutant Hart to single her out specifically with that move. Either to get one last "touch," or simply out of spite. Barring all that, she's just a lot more aggressive and foul-mouthed in general, and leaving Rod to die in the Joyless ending seemed needlessly cruel. Even if Rod didn't particularly care about her, he still helped her fight off Hart and his goons, actions trump motivation here. And where exactly did she get the idea he was fighting over HER? Rod made it pretty clear he was fighting Hart because Hart murdered his friends, something Hopeful Five would likely empathize with.

Same. It hurts even more when I was mega prepared to fight literally anything after beating hardest rider and getting into outlaw mode. You're telling me that five, with ONLY her combo dial and no items was able to defeat a Rodriguez with riders helmet, yogurt with the ability to counter, and even papa woods with his pretty good defense? All it would take to beat her would be like, 3 tnts. Or even just 12 slugs. She isn't even armed! Or has a history of fighting! Rodriguez has guns, Papa woods has a machete, and yogurt can legitimately fucking MELT PEOPLE Yet five wins because 'go girlboss go'

To be fair, if shes survived for this long in Olathe, its likely she is pretty strong in terms of LISA characters. No way she would realistically win though on a 3 v 1 aganist endgame Rod & co. I can see her 1 v 1ing Hart, but not much beyond that.

Hopeful pretty clearly established that physical confrontation was a literal last-resort for Five, she had no special Lisa-verse powers (fireballs, finger beams, etc.) and was barely scraping by with just the clothes on her back. Her defeating Rod, Yogurt and Papa 3v1 would be a little more believable if she was Joyed up, but her reaction to the Joy pile after the Hart fight threw that possibility out the window (not to mention all 3 men could be Joyed as well). Good old "Cutscene Incompetence." It pissed me off in the Lanks ending of Hopeful too, the Camo Shawl meant you could have taken ZERO damage fighting Hart. But nah, Lanks is still on the brink of death regardless

wow, the "no joy and defeat Hart with Rod" ending sucks. base hopeful kinda showed how she had like, a bit of compassion in her to help out beltboy after he says "I need a friend," or something along those lines, and helps him out (and then letting him into her future plans.) After Rod. and crew all directly defeat Hart (and even then, prefacing that they don't want to be with her) she leaves them all for dead? i was legit gonna play this after loving every branch of Hopeful, but making Five just a person with no compassion even after 3 guys just fought tooth and nail to get her out kind of sucks.

The only problem I have with some of the endings is that, by all means, Papa, Rodriguez, and Yogurt wouldn't lose this fight. They've fought characters with 10x more hp than her, and even if they're reluctant to do anything, as soon as she started swinging, you'd expect them to fight back. I don't really have much of a problem with the way Five is written, and I actually really like her skills. It's just that some of the battles make the characters we've been with for the entire game seem weak in the end.

Idk why but the joy mutant designs of this mod go hard like fr fr They convey pretty well on how horrifying the mutant transformations are and how fucked up they leave the body. Altho they kinda look a little bit over the top but they are solid for a more creepy take on the joy mutants. Nice vid bro Also 52:04 GET GNOMEEEDDDD!!!1!!!1!1!1!!

Hey one of the devs here, glad you enjoyed -or at least stuck through- the mod. figured I'd answer a few questions I've seen about the ending. The reason Hart doesn't mutate in the Five route is because he's somehow still alive, by some tiny thread, when five leaves. (Somewhat like brad taking some time to mutate in painful's ending even after all his injury.), the reason Five fights Tanner on the normal joy route is the idea that both sides of the final fight get into a kind of haze of violence by the end, and after dealing with the mutants, Five just starts mindlessly swinging at tanner and only comes down from the 'afterglow' per-say of carnage after tanner dies, that freaky feeling also being a reason why rod has the option to try and attack five in the normal ending. The Hart route (yes thats what that ending is called) is just in his head as he's dying, being that what tiny, twisted little shred of normal fucking person-ness is manifesting as Childhood Friend/Strange redhead girl. (Directly assuming Hart and her and siblings, filling out another link in the weird benny/hart/five = brad/rando/buddy thingy), but the post-credit rodriguez creepypasta hell zone (this is its actual name) is not a dream, and most likely not an afterlife of some kind, but a version of the weird trauma-space that brad and buddy can slip into in the Definitive Edition. The 'other' Rodriguez you see right at the end is the actual normal roddy from OG hopeful. (This and maybe~ the scene with Benny and Five in wallys are the only parts of the mod thats actually "canon" in any meaningful way in both of the dev's eyes, although we consider the normal joyless ending as the 'canon ending' if you needed to have one).

I really did enjoy all of it. Even if the game has some issues, I loved how fights felt. I do feel that if you wan to make it more clear why Five's just killing Tanner, you could give her a trance status effect, like the 3rd Fold one from Pointless.

Hi there! I actually tried this out yesterday and I can say this. You still win. Rodriguez, Yogurt, and Papa all dissapear as if they're the apparitions of a schizophrenic five. Nothing changes. I didn't check what would happen if you lost to hart, simply because I was feeling kinda...gross about the game at that time.
