I Think that house used to be the Gatekeepers house. the gatekeeper used to close the gates by hand when a train was coming, and when the house got abandoned, they built a cabin for the gatekeeper next to the crossing with windows. now since it got upgraded, the gatekeeper doesnt control the crossing anymore, oh and all of the level crossings on the Manulla - Ballina line used to be manually operated (by hand)
