Thank you! I was wondering how you indicate parts of a design for cutting & engraving. And I love the tip to cut out on your Silhouette for a test cut.

Hi great video :). Could it cut thin metal too?
@LisaPottsDesigns2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Unfortunately not. The Glowforge is a CO2 laser, so it's unable to cut metal.

What setting do you use for clear acrylic? I cant seem to get a good clear print. I love your channel and watch your videos almost daily
@LisaPottsDesigns3 жыл бұрын
Right now I'm just setting my machine to medium clear acrylic and cutting with the proofgrade setting :)

Can't you just click on a corner once something is selected and pull or push to the size you want? That's how the basic version works. The numbers self-adjust. Pulling at the corner also keeps them proportional. I'm wondering if there is another reason. Also with earrings, it's nice to mirror them. I make enamel earrings and I always flip the stencil between left and right unless they're perfectly symmetrical. Again, I'm wondering if that causes difficulty with the final design. If I've selected or grouped designs, they all get the same reductions or increase. I hope these tips work and help you being you are so generous with your knowledge. I don't yet have a laser cutter, but boy, do I want one. I just discovered your channel. Thank you for all you do.

Hi Barbara! Yes, the corner can work just fine. I prefer to just type in the distance because I don't like dragging. It's really just a preference issues, but I like getting the exact dimension right away.

I do my test cuts on the laser using cardstock.

That's a great idea, too! I prefer my Cameo because I'm most comfortable with it and I hate cutting paper with the laser.

I saved up for a while! There's also financing, many people I know financed and paid it off early with money from sales.

Hi! I'm thinking about getting a Glowforge. Do you think it's a good investment? Which Glowforge would you recommend? I don't plan on making any large items. Also, I know a few people have mentioned that the machine has to stop and cool down, because they're not set up for constant use. Have you had any problems with the Glowforge? Also, how is Glowforge's customer service? Thank you for your input.
@LisaPottsDesigns4 жыл бұрын
Hi Linda! I have absolutely loved my Glowforge, and most people I speak to have said they have made back their investment with it faster than any other machine they've gotten. The type of machine really varies based on what you need. The Plus and Pro both have extended warranties, and some upgraded parts. The machine needs to stop to cool down for large jobs, but I know a ton of people who are satisfied with their basic. If you're doing just a few things, and not constantly running it, the Basic is great! As far as problems, I did have a slight issue when I first got my machine. The camera was way off, but their customer service was very quick to send me a new unit! I have had nothing but great experiences with Glowforge customer service. You will always find people who have had a bad one, but I see so many people satisfied! The only thing I don't like about it is that it's only by email.

Hey Lisa! I really like your videos and love your creations! if I end up buying a Glowforge I will definitely use your discount! I am curious if you would be down for a Q&A video or if you could just answer my questions! - Why did you buy Glowforge instead of some other cheapest laser machine with more watts? - Does it scares you that everything goes to their servers? No usb adapter its kind of a downside for me! What if their website goes down? - Does it scares you to not have a warranty after 12 months? - Do you think its worth the price? Anyway, I get that they sell a product with a software that is very user friendly, they have communities, customer support, templates and I'm really really interested. I keep telling my bf the cheapest laser machines could have more power for less money but they are also way bigger and he keeps telling me I should do more research before paying $5,500 for a 40W laser cutter. Just looking for honest owner feedback before I pay the price! No answer is wrong. Thank you and keep doing your videos please!!! XOXO

Hi Ashley, great idea! I'll put a couple posts out asking for questions and I'll do a Q&A soon. Long story short, I still recommend the Glowforge for what I am doing. I pair a lot of other crafts and vinyl with my creations, so the software and transition is easy. If I were to have a business that is primarily laser goods, I would consider another machine, but still start with the GF.

Do you have the glow forge pro or plus? And would you know if the plus still makes earrings and engraves leather?

Sparkle Lewis I have the Pro! The plus can definitely do earrings and laser-safe leather 😊

Do you have your glowforge inside your shop or in a garage? I am worried about fires...I have a she shed and I don't want it to catch my building on fire...have you ever had a fire before?
@LisaPottsDesigns4 жыл бұрын
This is actually inside my home! I converted a guest bedroom into my office for my channel and my day job is still work from home. I have an inline fan setup (linked in the description), and I make sure to clean my machine regularly. So far no fires!

Hi Lisa, I just found your channel. I was wondering if you need the Silhouette cameo to make the earrings and other stuff?. I have Cricut Maker would that work with Glowforge? Thank you
@LisaPottsDesigns3 жыл бұрын
I use my Cameo for leatherette, but unfortunately, acrylic is too thick for vinyl cutter machines :(

Do you have the Pro? And how often do you use the passthrough?
@LisaPottsDesigns4 жыл бұрын
I do! Actually, I don't use the passthrough very often. I have found that the smaller projects have been in more demand, but the pro does have a stronger laser and can run all day.

Acrylic and epoxy resin are same???? I have confusion
@LisaPottsDesigns3 жыл бұрын
No, but a lot of people use acrylic to make silicone molds for resin! I work with acrylic, I haven't worked with resin yet.
@daniellem42704 жыл бұрын
would cricut maker would do that same?
@LisaPottsDesigns4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately not, the acrylic is a thick plastic that can't be cut through with the maker.
