Lisette Oropesa & Benjamin Bernheim talk about «Lucia di Lammermoor» - Opernhaus Zürich

In the revival of Gaetano Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor" in Tatjana Gürbaca's production, the American soprano Lisette Oropesa is Lucia. She has thrilled audiences with this role at the Royal Opera House London and the Teatro Real in Madrid. As her lover, Benjamin Bernheim will be heard, whose international career once began in the opera studio of the Zurich Opera.

Yesterday I was so lucky to attend this production. During Covid I watched the online Met Gala and when Lisette performed it was for me like a voice from another world. Many stars performed during this event but nobody could come close to Lisette. As I live in Germany I took the first opportunity to attend a performance with Lisette of an opera which I like and Lucia is wonderful as it gives the soprano a huge part and an opportunity to show her capabilities. But not only the soprano, of course as well the tenor. With Benjamin there was another exceptional voice, I heard him first in Munich in Rigoletto, wonderful. Coming back to yesterday evening. When Lisette started to sing my eyes were full of tears as I was allowed to listen to such a beautiful voice, with such a profound technique and carried with style and passion. For me really like coming from heaven. But not only the singing, the acting as well was very good which makes Lisette a rare singing actress. Benjamin was absolutely wonderful too. A beautiful timbre and my first impression I got during Rigoletto was confirmed. I will try my best to see both in the future as much as possible and I recommend everybody who likes opera singing, go to Zürich and attend the performance to listen to them, priceless. I got in my car and drove home for 3 hours still flashed by the performance. Thank you Lisette and Benjamin!

See you all on Thursday, can’t wait, we are so excited. Lisette is the best Lucia! Two different Lucia performances in one week, my loved one and I are very lucky, I get to see her cry her eyes out again towards the end of Act 3 again 🤣😂🤣🥂

Can t wait to see this new production with a modern twist- in Zurich , there’s a different psychological appeal to this Lucia in the city of Jung . Toi toi toi to both of you!
