Sitting here listening to this 7 years after first hearing this cover. I listened to this on repeat in my truck and lived by this song for a summer. Nothing will compare to speeding down a backroad in my pickup at 2am with my boys in the back, windows down living like we didn't have tomorrow to wake up to. Everyone should let go and live it up like that at least once in their life. No fear, no worries about what might come tomorrow. I would give anything for one more week of the summer this song inspired.

Might be one of the greatest covers ever. She let it be what it was and still made it her own. She embodied Cudi's story and told it as her own. Those were his words, but that was her pain. Beautiful inside and out. What a badass.
@collinmichaelkahn3918 Жыл бұрын
So we’ll put. I was trying to come t but ya’ll knocked it out of the park. His original still gives me chills. If you were dealing with mental health anguish/addiction/s-word ideation/just overwhelmed circa 2010/11, you knew and swore by his song. I think history will co-sign it as one of the most important expressions of a specific kind of pain you had to be there like we were to get/understand. So many layers too. Ethnicity, sexuality, struggles with substance abuse, the prison of male-masculine identity for some people, the feelings of inferiority you get in a world where everything is perfect or striving for perfection and on display and the gonzo toll it can take on all of our lives and minds, just seeing everybody else with their curated lives, cultivated to inspire envy and make one feel less than. Think that’s why her version works so well, besides her very obviously real talent (“Best Days” is like a *soul* song for me): because the song adds layers or opens and reveals something entirely different depending on the person singing it. But Scott will always have my heart for his. It never fails me/us.

You were def a lot like emo me at 10/11. Already peaking into the world of these deeply complex songs about hurt and pain neither of us should’ve known or been curious about at that age. Thank god people like Cudi and Lissie exist to provide the vehicle for our exorcising these demons. ❤️

@eletor10 жыл бұрын
Winné His version sucks.
@MrLaddyLucks10 жыл бұрын
Winné Both versions are exceptional in there own right. That's the amazing thing about music, is it can influence and stir up emotions in people of all age, genders, religion and sex. Music is purely subjective. To some it may sound phenomenal, and to others it may sound dreadful. What do you merit a version of a song? By its popularity? Then you have to take into consideration of all the variables. One artist may have a previous following or just have been around much longer than other. Marketing from the publishers would also skew any information gathered. (IE: If one demographic of the population is much larger than another) Or would you just assume the notion that if it came first, then its better? In that case than human progression is all but null. Which is just absurd. .. Just sit back and enjoy the music. It may not strike a chord within you as true as another version, but just remember that we are all different.
@SUPERxPOLO10 жыл бұрын
Laddylucks Buddy, i LOVE this version very much.. the woman is amazing. I was jut tellin that twat he's an idiot for saying it is better than Cudi's.
@SUPERxPOLO10 жыл бұрын
Laddylucks Basically, Whether something is good or not IS NOT an Opinion. Whether you like something or not obviously IS an opinion, but whether something is good or not is a fact. You CAN'T say that Kid Cudi's version of Pursuit of Happiness is not anything but BRILLIANT. You may however say you don't like it but saying it "sucks" is simply wrong.
