List Formatting Magic - inlineEditField and setValue for making list fields editable

Chris, is it possible to update a Choice column value after updating a Date column using inline editing? For example, after user enters date, set choice column value to “Scheduled”. If date is null, set choice column value to “N/A”. I’ve tried setvalue action in the date column formatting but it never changes the choice selection after date is updated.
