I scale myself on Java for automation 1.5 out of 5 but still I took a challenge to automate my current application. The framework was already shared from my onsite team mate. Yes Souvik in short core Java is needed for automation. You can't crack interview with just loops and if else etc. These concepts will be used in your automation framework and it is expected from the candidate. All these basics core concepts can be covered in 15 hours ( excluding practice)
