IBC and WBF were actually titles also but they were considered "minor" world titles. WBF even less so. WBF was almost a gimmick title that alot of journeyman fought for. IBC had way more credibility in the early to mid 90s but nothingcomparedto the 3 major sanctioning bodies, wbc, ibf, wba. The guy who trained me was actually the IBC champion from 94-96. There were others to WAA was similar to wbf. I don't even think they had champions for every weight classes. If I remember correctly the waa was created specifically to give Shawn OGrady another title after he lost. Coincidentally my trainer also held the exact same waa lightweight title after OGrady in the mid 90s. I don't think he ever even bothered defending it

There's a reason mike tyson is spoken about and loved more than any boxer from the mid 80s onwards. No boxer has excited people with the ferocity and speed of tyson in his youth. You see many great boxers in this list but you would need to go back to the time of ali,foreman,Norton and frazier to get the same excitement tyson brought to the ring.

I did my high-school senior project on this topic. I did the whole oral presentation off the top of the head and listed every heavyweight champion and how the won and lost their titles. I did the same for the written project except in far more detail with a short bio for each fighter. For my physical project i took 8 of the toughest kids in my school and sparred all of them on video. I also had some of them spar each other. It was pretty awesome

Personally, I think number one is John l Sullivan. He fought to the death for 75 rounds. Due to the brutality of these fights, he is the best of all time.

Why do so many boxers have those narrow "Asian" eyes? I notice it more with black boxers. Every black heavyweight champion since the 60s has had very squinty eyes like Holyfield, Tyson, Ali. It occurs to some extent in lower weight classes too like Floyd Mayweather.
