So lovely a sound, so peaceful, I fall asleep so easily listening to the rain. Reminds me of when I was a kid sleeping during a sunmmer thunder storm on our upstairs sleeping porch with the bamboo blinds billowing and little droplets spatterimg; pulling my beloved grandmother's homemade quilt over my head. Summer porch was so delightful!

When in the Army, they taught us to build our tents on ground with Water Troughs dug around the tent for weather like this. I always tried to find a piece of ground with a slight down angle for the rain to run off. The worse was waking up with snakes inside your tent in Winter weather. Everybody needs some warmth.

I do understand that feeling ,but for me it usually is about the end of Sept till about March.I love the Fall thru Winter . We get alot of snow here but not alot of rain. Infact tomarrow it's supposed to start raining and then turn to snow. Either way snuggly weather. Putting on my headphones , Nighty night.

When I was a child, whenever it rained my mum would wake my brother, sister and me up (my dad worked night),turn off all the lights and turn the sofa to face the windows. We would all sit there with hot chocolate and listen to the storm while waiting to see the lightning, we lived on a hill and could see for miles. We all grew up to absolutely love thunderstorms and do similar things with our children. I found out recently that my mum hated them and was terrified but by waking us up and pretending she loved them she found she could cope.
