Thorin is insightful. I don't know much about him, but just by watching these and listening to him, I am guessing he has a big background in traditional sports. Rookie contracts literally work the way he was saying and I'm sure he knows that. You get a relatively untried player for a low amount and after their first contract and they've proven they're worth more money they get it.

@1:23:30 Thoorin, C9 has the highest spending on Academy of any team, so they are actually spending but primarily on talent to develop. In regards to your argument with TL vs C9 as teams and saying TL is winning because they spend the big bucks but what happens when these huge talent players(DL, Jensen, CoreJJ) suddenly decline. In that context TL have literally no player that could fill the missing role whereas C9 consistently switch out players and can win with one or more players replaced because of their academy and talent development spending.

I'm a C9 fan and its obvious that in this case Steve will just buy more world class known talent without hesitation and problems. With the way things are going he doesn't have to worry about his org developing talent.

If DL leaves, for example, who in NA could possibly replace him and actually improve the team at the same time. I'll just answer that and say no one right now. That can change obviously but I seriously doubt with the way TL look now that they'll consider investing in their unproven talent when their roster is so stacked with the best player in each position in NA. I suppose that's probably the best problem to have as TL but IMO the sustainability of the team is questionable long term in contrast to what Thoorin argued that Steve in 10 years will be laughing at everyone with the biggest e-sport company. In comparison C9 have very clear avenues for sustaining their team if shit were to hit the fan. Literally the best and most relevant example being Blaber and Svenskeren, Smoothie and Zeyzal, and finally Kumo and Licorice(I'm not sure about this one honestly). And you can't tell me TL has a suitable replacement in mind for any role on their main roster

The problem with Thorin arguement about C9 and TL and championships and money going with buisiness is that though TL has won 3 splits in a row and look so good, they have less team pass buys than C9. So though theyve won so much and continue to do so, it doesnt always mean more money because fans are the money, not the championships.

Man Thorin just needs to admit he is wrong sometimes. League is definitely a business. How can you be sure that League is still around in 10 years so why not lock in your maximum profit while you can? People have different business strategies as Loco described.
