I was thinking of buying a boss v500 before watching this video. but its back vocals and effects made me feel more original. but I am not a guitarist. I'm just vocal. Is there a different model with the same vocal effects? And I am visually impaired. Is it difficult to switch between sounds and make adjustments? And again, are there any big differences between the tc helicon model v2 or just v3? please reply this is very important to me.

EXCELLENT demo vid!! It’s August 2024 and the VL3X is shipping from Sweetwater with the updated codecs. I wanted an effects pedal that wasn’t out of production yet still checks all the boxes of what I need. Your demo vid NAILED what I was hunting for (no other demo vid has) so without knowing it - you just sold another unit! Seriously - they should pay you to do these vids. Thanks again!

This is a good unbiased demo. I’ve seen people use the doubler to cheat singing up an octave in songs that jump an octave for a chorus. Opens up songs that were either out of their range. Personally I love all the delays and reverbs with a dash of harmonies.

Extremely helpful video! Does anyone know the big difference between this model and the voice live play? From what I understand the voice live play does not have backing track function, nor is it as focused on guitar like this one. But as far as vocal effects, processing and things like this are you missing a lot if you go with the cheaper voice live play?
@matthaberek2 жыл бұрын
I heard this is the next best thing to use for polished live vocals if you can’t afford a high end MacBook Pro with universal audio Apollo interfaces with their expensive plug ins. I just want to be able to have a vocal that sounds compressed noise gate de esser limiter clean sound WITH the ability to have a pitch correction Auto-Tune abilities as natural or hard as I want with dreamy reverb some chorus to thicken it and nice on time delay And of course be able to experiment adding other effects. Wish I knew which was better
@ChrisKaplan2 жыл бұрын
Hey matthaberek I’m using this device to handle every effect when I’m doing a recording, First you’ll need a good mic! And yes the VCL3 x is doing a brilliant job!!! But you have to study and figure out how. This need a bit time, but if you have learned how to handle it, this is much faster to work with, as with ex Plugins. Plus external plugins in your DAW are slowing down the recording process, Sometimes you have to record only the dry vocals and after you’ve recorded them turn on the external plugins. So to record and performing with this device is absolutely fabulous! I recommend it to invest your money in devices instead in plugins Cheers Chris

@ChrisKaplan3 жыл бұрын

That is a hard question at this moment, at the end depends how much money you want spend out. I’m using Vlx3 longer than the ve-500. I planed a comparison video, but first I have to check out more the ve-500 before I do it. The vcl 3x is also build for guitar effects so has more options to creat more sound effects if you plug in a guitar other stuff

Thanks a lot, Chris for the great demonstration! I understand that when you are creating harmonies the tones are locked to pitches of the tempered scale. But what if you are using e. g. parallel octaves or fifths, let say you are singing a coninuous glissando, will the added part follow the glissando smoothly or jump to the next note of the chromatic scale? I would definitely prefer the first!
@ChrisKaplan2 жыл бұрын
Hey you are welcome! You give me an idea for a next Video, so thanks for that! The harmony section has multiple functions called HUMAN STYLE. (off, tight, natural, relaxed loose, random, time&pitch) Also with how much %, and Vibrato style (off, easy, Ballad, Jazz, Delicate, Flutter, mournful, old time,) also with how much %. So I`m gonna check this out tomorrow, and let you know how the Tc Helicon, is reacting with glissandos. But to do the video will need a bit time.

That knob to our left is looks weird the way it’s turning 🤔
@johnfillmore3432 жыл бұрын
As good as it is, it still has a "synthesized" sound to it. Part of the problem is that with real human harmony, the quality/timbre of using different human voices produces a distinctive sound that vocal harmonizers can't yet duplicate. But I expect someone will eventually produce a unit that solves even this issue.
@GodsMan500 Жыл бұрын
You can mix each harmony voice to have different timbres. There is also a percentage adjustment where 0 is your natural voice and plus values make each voice more feminine and minus values make each voice more masculine. When you work with it and spend the time, you can get some pretty realistic harmonies. Most people keep it too robotic and also too forward in the mix.

Hi Chris. One question. Is it possible to only hear the back vocals without hearing the lead vocals. I wanted to do a vocal cheat where I sing into the mic and the output comes out an octave higher without hearing my lead vocal in the mix come out. I tried turning the lead level down but still hear it come through the mix when I hear the back vocal come through. So not sure what else to do to eliminate it all together. You seem to know this product backward and forward. Thank you in advance. :)

Danke schonmal Vorab! Viele Grüße Maro
@ChrisKaplan3 жыл бұрын
Hi Maro Maro, vielen Dank!
