Listening to O Holy Night by Hand Bell Ringers at United Church 🔔

Merry Christmas!
Here is a song from a church concert, which was very pleasant to listen to. Especially if you like hand bells - a time-honoured tradition at Christmastime for there to be handbells at churches in Canada.

@@TributetoCanada Wish the next generation was more interested in carrying on these traditions. They don't know what they are going to lose or be missing if they all go away. I used to go to a full nativity play in downtown Toronto when I was growing up there. It was amazing. Just the right amount of reverence and respect for the subject matter as well as audience participation in the form of singing carols and Christmas songs. I think it's one of the things that's left such a profound impression on me over the years. Nowadays I can't find anything even close to that feeling. Sure there are nativity themed events at the churches around me where I am now, but they are more of the petting zoo, or grade school production kind of quality, and so they definitely don't have the same effect as what I remember. I'm surprised that there aren't Nativity nights in most towns and cities where performers put on a show at say like a Christmas market or town square during an event. How powerful it could be to see the story and sing the songs. And get people back into the spirit of Christmas. Like a flash mob nativity. With narration and music. I'd go see that. Or maybe even join in. Plus I'm sure people would like seeing it and participating. I know that there are more elaborate stage productions I could watch online... But it's just not the same. There's something special about a group of people doing their best to tell the story with what they have. I wish more people wanted to bring that spirit back.

I agree Mississauga has ZERO indication of Christmas. I have repeatedly asked council to decorate Our lamp posts. Falls on deaf ears🎄🎄🎄✝️🎄I am so sad many have rejected and removed our Christmas heritage 🫤
