I also would sit on a couch in a darkish setting enjoy it while burning one down and I was in Puerto Rico while they recorded parts of ‘Frances’, but I’ve always felt connected to them, they inspired me to keep studying Spanish and I’ve seen them five times.

Actually, my experience has been different. I read an article on TMV in Bass Player Mag and being into prog I checked out a CD in a store (back in the days when that was a thing). It was Frances the Mute I think. The first listening told me there was a reasonable chance that if I listened to it heaps I'd be a fan. So I bought it. Of course, it worked but on first listening the euphoria wasn't there. I find that with all great music - it needs 10+ listenings. I've had Bedlam for years but rarely listened to it. Recently I've been listening to heaps more TMV - especially Obelisk and Octahedron. The other day I tried Bedlam again. Was like I'd never heard it before. Fantastic. Got to Ouroborous and have had Ouroborous on repeat for a couple of days! TMV are incredible but it's not a free ride. It tales work. Very enjoyable work. For me, at least.
@jasonhawken8712 жыл бұрын
@@learnimplementshare3431 I totally understand this, in other video comments I have already told a very similar story. Back in the day (2006) I was still stuck on Black Sabbath and Jimi Hendrix, someone started playing Mars Volta for me because they thought I might like it. At first it was almost like static, just noise in which I could discern no patterns or reason. But there was something there. Random bits of Omar's guitar wailing would be stuck in my mind like thorns... and I started going back... and back, and back and back. My mind changed, my musical tastes expanded greatly, and now it's like a shot of top quality Morph right in the arm just to listen again. I try not to listen only to TMV in an attempt to make sure I never get sick of it, but so far it's still bliss every time. Ouroboros is a solid track. On Bedlam my fav has always been Agadez - something about that perfect linear build up.

Great reaction as always. I laughed so hard when I saw it because of the Gojira vid from earlier in the week. Never expected the Mars followup. 😂😂 You are spot on with your assessments of this band! You have so many more songs to go. While I want you to discover their entire library I’d be dishonest if I didn’t admit that I’d prefer you share your first listens here with us! But in all honesty... you deserve the solo walk-throughs like the rest of us. Volta albums are like battles your ears and mind need to preserver through. How about a compromise? You already listened to Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt from their first album, Deloused in the Comatorium. You should take an hour and just listen to it from start-on and enjoy that wonderment like we all did. Then save the rest for us!! The Mars Volta is easily in my top three bands of all time. Pretty much anything else you listen to is golden, but the stuff from their first four albums in particular is incredible. Anything from the albums "Deloused in the Comatorium", "Frances the Mute", "Amputechture", or "Bedlam in Goliath" is potentially mind blowing. The album "Octahedron" is good too, but it's a lot softer than the others and isn't as popular. Though I will say that once you get used to it, it has a certain "beauty" to the music that I really enjoy. Then there's "Noctourniquiet", and which is good too but it's entirely different from everything else they've done- like almost unrecognizable. But you could react to any song from this artist and I would love it.

Some song recommendations would be "Televators" & "Empty Vessels Make the Loudest Sound" off each album in order of release, respectively. They have got back together recently...but sadly the bassist hates Omar/Cedric now and the keyboardist passed away. I don't have much hope that what ever, if any, album they make will be as good as the older stuff.

The creation story of this particular album is...interesting.

You've gotta go back to their first 2 albums. I recommend "Cygnus vismond cygnus". Arguably their best piece of music imo, this coming from a huge fan dating back to years and years ago

Should just do an entire mars volta series

Yeah I'd just react to the first few albums in full!

Given you have liked what you’ve heard of the band and you haven’t done anything off the first album, I HIGHLY recommend doing a whole album reaction for Deloused in the Comatorium. It is an absolutely phenomenal album. Failing that, can you do Cicatriz E.S.P.?

Haha cool Style eh? I always get the feeling TMV is like Korn meeting RHCP and then they went Prog(ish)? For me it is kinda what Insanity in Prog-Form would sound like. I always enjoyed this band tho. My recommendation this Time (ill just keep adding :P ) The Aristocrates - Spanish Eddie(If you want Insane Bass-Guitar things) OR Desert Tornado(If you want my favourite Drum-Intro).

You should listen to COMUS - first utterance. The singing on this reminds me heavily of it and I definitely think you’d find them interesting

You won't be able to say the same about the bass player on their first album, Deloused in the Comatorium. It's Flea from the RHCP, uncredited

I recommend Puya - Solo (fusion of salsa and metal)

Ouroboros is a mythic antique symbol used in tons of religions and cultures. There are hundreds of songs called like that :D So it's easy to get them confused yes
